No excuses - we were rubbish. Our group was average, we should have qualified a long time ago - so although half our best players were out injured for this game, it's irrelevant. Some fatal mistakes by McLaren, including selecting the inexperienced Carson - his guffaw pretty much wrote McLaren's job off straight away. Even if we had scraped a draw, I still would have wanted to see him go. We need someone to bring our football team back to life - no old hands like Venables. Start afresh - realise our talent.
