not being a gay boy by asking mate. but if i were you ice the area rather than heat it as icing reduced swelling, and also seek medical advice from your doc. maybe a trip to a phsyio and a trip to someone for a deep tissue sports massage once its feeling better will help. but if symptoms don't get better definitely seek advice from a consultant or doc .

Lower back and right where the spine is. my gf and mother thought it might be somethign with my kidneys or soemthing think they said kidneys but somewaht doubt that as im doing everything else fine. some days i can wake up and theres nothing wrong but by the afternoon it will be hurting and if i left even the lightest of object ie a table i will need to sit down as my back will start hurting.

Again, I'm no doctor but am just recovering from a back injury I picked up deadlifting in October 2009. I'd go to your doc for a formal diagnosis to check it isn't something serious.

In my case, The doc thought it was muscular/ligaments as there were no symptoms of disc hernia such as pain radiating down my legs. Pain was local to the lower vertabrae at the base of spine. Referred to physio who reckons it's poor posture and lack of core strength and gave me a heap of stretches and core excercise. Did them for a few weeks but no real improvement.

A few weeks ago I decided to start light deadlifting (3x10 @80kg) again and I am doing unweighted good mornings every day. My back feels much better as a result. Still a bit stiff in the morning but nothing like it was. Also heat it every morning and night with a heat pack.

You will not get diagnosed properly be some geezers on-line

Get to a chirpractor/doc if very painful

the way you have described you pain in the lower right side of the spine sound very familiar to me and i have the same issue there too. the doc thinks it could be facet joint syndrome (check it out on google). i find that Hamstring stretched, glute stretches hip mobility, trigger point are good.

Good mornings i have added with just a broom handle and i do a few sets of 10 everyday to loosen of the area. i do think that you should to to the Doc for the first instance and get him/her to at least diagnose the problem and possibly refer you. as JV has said an osteopath or chiro would be a good call to see if anything is out of alignment .

Im my opinion doctors are a waste of time, you need to find yourself a good pyshio, the one I use works with a rugby team so she is used to working with bigger lads and understands that I don't want to take any time of training so she works around it. With out seeing it or anything it could be bad posture, if you stand side on to a mirror and extend your back it should create a nice curve in the lumbar region of the spine, alot of lifters, including myself, when the bend back don't create this curve and instead hinge on one vertebrae, this will be the site of your pain and its all due to poor core and posture.
