Box Squat
50x3x2, 70x2x2, 90x2, 100x2, 110x2, 120x2, 130x2, 140x2, 150x2, 100x2x4

The double at 150 wasn't too hard. These are going pretty well. Settled on a format for squatting and benching now - one day speed (8x3 on bench, 10-12x2 on squat) and one day working up to a heavy 5, 3 or 1.

Bench Press
60x5, 80x3, 90x3x8

Power Clean
50x3, 70x2x2, 80x1x2, 90x1, 95x1

Overhead Press
60x3, 70x2
Seated Lockout
70x 8, 7

Pull-up
+10x6x8

Do you want a lift to the NW bench on Sunday?

I'd forgotten all about that actually. Who's going and who's competing?

Joni and I are going. We'll invite Adam and Ant too. I believe Rob and Hayden will be there, and I can't imagine the Boar will skip it. Fat Pete, Joe, and Aaron from Adders are all competing, as of course will be non-adlington lifters. Other than that I don't know.

I'd do them after squats instead - I think think squats then SLDLs is a good all round lower body workout. Some people do say that it's good to balance your quad work out with equal hamstring work and obviously normal deads do this, but SLDLs more so. I like the two pulling sessions a week, one conventional and one stiff-legged - that's what I'm doing now.

How does 90x10x2 feel? One thing I've found with them is you can push yourself further than you think (which obviously needs some care not to get injured). I've had sessions where I've found 120x10 difficult then gone on to do 150x10 afterwards, and it hasn't felt much harder. Dropping the sets as you go up is good.

Cheers, will probably switch to that order next block of training. 90x10x2 wasn't hard but I think they will start getting hard soon. If I could get upto 120 soonish that'd be ace.

Can do, yup. Dunno what time it starts as yet - it'll take a while to get to Colne though!

Squat
50x5, 70x5, 90x5, 110x5, 130x5, 150x5

Not too hard, pretty pleased with this.

Bench Press (fairly narrow grip)
50x5, 70x5, 90x5, 100x5, 105x5

Stiff-legged Deadlift
60x10, 80x10x3

DB Bench Press
35sx10, 8, 7

Unbelievably s**t. Am amazed at how useless my pressing is at the moment.

Pendlay Row
60x10, 80x10x4

32kg kettlebell

Did a circuit of:

One arm Swing 10/10 L/R
Turkish Get-up 1/1
Sidebend 10/10
Clean & Push Press 1/1
Bent Press 1/1

three times.

Very pleased I managed to do bent presses. Not far from that to a strict press. Plus they're fun.

32kg kettlebell

Just messed about really, doing various things including one arm swings, get-ups, clean and push press, bent presses and... snatches! They weren't too hard in the end, did a set of 5 with each hand and it's cardio rather than strength that's the limiting factor.

Box Squat
50x3x2, 75x2, 85x2, 95x2, 105x2, 115x2, 125x2, 13x2, 145x2, 155x2, 160x2, 105x2x2

Very good stuff.

Bench Press
60x3, 80x3, 92.5x3x8

Snatch Pull
60x3, 80x3x6

This is the first phase of my new deadlift plan. I really like this exercise, got some good speed on them and had quite sore traps afterwards too. Don't like shrugs, so these are a good alternative to those as well.

Clean and Press
70x1x2

Pull-up

Bit of kettlebell stuff - practising snatches, a few clean & bent presses, swings

24/10/07

Kettlebell

Two arm swing
15 sets of 10

Was intending to do 20 sets but my back was feeling a bit tight. Then did a few bent presses and push presses. For some reason I'm a lot better at all unilateral movements on my left side, which is very odd. I'm sure it's a technique rather than a strength thing (on the bent press, for example, I can tell that my clean and therefore my starting position in the bent press are much better on my left) but that doesn't explain why my usually unfavoured left should fare better.

Squat
50x5, 80x5, 105x5, 125x5, 140x5, 155x5

Actually a PB set of 5 - but I've done 150x10 and 150x5x5 so it doesn't really count. Still, heading in the right direction.

Close(ish) Grip Bench Press
50x5, 70x5, 90x5, 100x5, 110x5

SLDL off block
60x10, 90x10x3

DB Bench Press
37.5s x 10, 10, 9 (Much better than last week)

Pendlay Row
90x10x3
