Recession, big pay cuts at works, and nothing of note in the gym. A very poor year all round. There is no end in sight for the recession and the pay cuts, which has produced a general air of despondency which follows me around like a cartoon where the little guy has a black raincloud right over his head that rains only on him. On the plus side, I have good friends, I have my health and I can still pay the bills. There is just very little "fun" money left. I am on the ropes but my guard is still up and I may just come off swinging. The last decade has been the worst of my life, and the last one has been the worst of the last decade. Let's just hope that Homer Simpson's comment of "so far" is not applicable in this case. I can think of only one thing to do, as my old grandmother used to say "keep going with your head down" So that's the plan then, no heroics, no targets, just carry on as best I can and hope the clouds lift and the rain stops. Cold, very cold, forgot the thermometer, but it's cold none the less Deadlift, raw, leotard, and clown pants (too cold for the lower extremities to be open to the elements) and slippers, no belt, all weights in kilograms 60 x 5 60 x 5 60 x 5 60 x 5 60 x 5 60 x 5 100 x 5 140 x 5 180 x 3 220 x 3 230 x 3 240 x 3 250 x 3 tbar rows, very strict, still kilos 40 x 8 50 x 8 60 x 8 70 x 8 60 x 8 Deadlifts were really rather good tonight, good form and very smooth and felt lighter than I remember which surely can be no bad thing. Alan is delighted which again, is no bad thing. On the 230 the grip of my left hand felt a tad weaker than usual so I used wrist wraps (on Alan's advice) for the 240 and 250. They made a considerable difference, more than I ever thought they would. Which only goes to prove that thinking is bad but trying is good. I suspect that I will not use them as a rule but may just save them for the big event. Experimentation is required. Then off to r kids for some quality nosebag and plenty off it. Hence the late entry. | ||

Disaster to start with, the bog is frozen and I always evacuate pre-squat, well not today I don't. Worrying. On the plus side Phil the Behemoth has made some excellent squat racks. Belters they are too, very professional job.
