Started out with the Rick/joeB bench thing today, and a fairly inauspicious start it was too.

Chins
bw/6
bw/5

bench
30/8
50/8
70/8
80/8
90/8
100/8
90/6
80/5

the 100 set was harder than I thought it was going to be. I definitely expected to have a couple of reps in the tank which wasn't the case.

I ran into a wall at the backdown set at 90 (I really should have been good for a dozen) so lowered it to 80 and hit the wall againUnhappy
I think starting running again is probably linked to this.

db rows
24/20

military
10/10
20/10
30/10
40/10

I need to find a rowing type exercise that I don't hate with a passion

probably take a few weeks to adjust to the higher reps, how far are you running?

Not far at all at the minute mate. I would much rather be running some intervals, but it is a bit pointless unless I've got at least some semblance of fitness!

It does take a while to adjust; the first couple of weeks are pretty brutal. At this stage, by the time you get to your backdown you've done a lot of volume and you're very tired, so it really hits what you can manage. You'll find by the time you're on triples you're backing down to a ten or dozen that's more than you'll reach for your top eight!

I hope so Rick. I really did run out of juice.

playtime in the playsuit again todayGrin

70/2 wrists wrapped from here on

140/1 suit on, straps down
150/1
160/1
170/1 straps up. Here is the vid.

Sorry for the tarzan groan-it was the suit pulling rather than any superhuman effort
Embarassed

180/1
184/1 wraps on.

I had no more space on the bar here.

I am really enjoying suitted squatting. It takes away all the pain in my hip and groin. The 184 went up fine-I would have gone heavier, but I didn't have any room on the bar. The limiting factors at the minute are depth (as on the vid, I think I am an inch or two shy of parallel each time) and the sheer weight on my shoulders. It is not huge I know, but beyond anything else I've had, so I need to get used to it.

The only other problem is it takes mre a good while to get suit on etc, and for the last two sessions I have cut out front squats (which isn't something I want to do). I'll switch things around and put fronties on another day.

EDIT: my shoulders are absolutely fooked from benching then squeezing under the squat bar today, so I might have to play around with the order of days/exercises.

terrible session today.

lockout from pins (hole 12)
50/4
70/3
90/3
110/2
130/2

shoulders sore, felt horrible; change for:-

2 board press
90/2
110/1
120/3
130/1
140/ unracked, then promptly re-racked.

Stopped here. This was just terrible. Everything hurt, didn't even get on to speed bench. I'm off on holiday on Monday for a few days so that will be a good time to take stock. I think the obvious way forward is to do the joeB/Rick routine on one day and speed benching on the other and cut out the lockout stuff (replacing it with some shoulder/tricep stuff to keep everything healthy). I'll have a ponder.

the joeb/rick routine worked for me,are you doing the cubans and scap exercises for the shoulders?
Squat looked comfy again, just need to squeeze down a tiny bit more to be in,the wider stance definitely seems to suit you!

I think the routine is a good one-I just need to stop be a lazy prick and start doing some proper shoulder prehabEmbarassed
I need a nice 10 minute daily shoulder routine and just to get on with it.

I agree about the squats-I am much better nice and wide, but need to nudge down an inch or so.

If you're going to do lockout work, do it as your tricep move on the heavy day of the routine.

I think I'm going to bin the lockout work altogether. It wa just an effort to get more on the bar than my max, but I don't think it is doing my shoulders any good.

back from holidays-motivation is non-existant and I'm not sure why-I'm hoping it is just the heat.

chins
bw/4

bench
10/8
30/5
50/5
70/2
90/1
100/1
110/1,1
100/1,1,1,1

The 110 wasn't difficult, but my technique was so poor, I thought I'd go back down to 100 to try to get it right.

lateral raises/not many

come on-sort it out.
