As it transpires I have partially dislocated my left shoulder due to that farmers hold on the 5th Jan session Unhappy There is no pain in day to day life, but press ups/ pullups pain that shoulder. I have surgery booked for 14th April, 6 weeks in a sling, and then a further 20 weeks till "contact sports" can begin.. I'll need to ask where powerlifting fits in that time frame.

Would have been nice to have had the surgery when the gyms were shut, but I'm grateful I am getting it at all, what with COVID related medical delays.

Anyway, the outdoor gym opened today, time to squeeze two weeks of safety bar squats and leg press in

Safety Bar Squat:

25 kg x 5
65 kg x 5 - effortless thankfully
105 kg x 5 - effortless on video but felt wobbly and unstable!
105 kg x 1 - pulled something in the leg, to be expected after so long off, just a bit of cramp

Leg Press:

80 kg x 12
120 kg x 12
160 kg x 12
160 kg x 12

DOMs not entirely gone, but here goes...Safety bar squat:

25 kg x 5
65 kg x 5 - DOMS flaring up badly, and I regretted my decison to train
85 kg x 5
105 kg x 5

110 kg x 5
110 kg x 5- better
110 kg x 5- best

After persevering I got through the DOMS and glad I trained Happy

Standing 1 arm DB Strict Press:

20 kg x 8
25 kg x 8
30 kg x 8

Not too shabby considering I didn't train my upper body in 3 months

Not hard. 120 single at the end with just one hand gripping the bar and it was fine

30 kg x 9
30 kg x 9
30 kg x 9

Hammer Curl Right arm:

85 kg x 5
105 kg x 5
125 kg x 2

135 kg x 5
135 kg x 5
135 kg x 5

First set textbook, latter sets I got sloppy.

Standing 1 arm strict Press:

30 kg x 10
30 kg x 10
30 kg x 10

1 arm hammer curl:

15 kg x 9/9/9 - you can't use as much weight one handed, as you don't have the chance to rest the arm while the other arm curls

14th April- Had keyhole surgery to repair my torn Labrum (this was driving the dislocated shoulder as it transpired). The surgeon said it was pretty bad, but on the upside said I had some of the strongest bones he'd worked on... it was like drilling cement he said Grin First couple of days were painful... it was like having a broken bottle inside the shoulder. After 2 weeks I joined the local 24 hour gym and did a few weeks of leg presses, leg machines and right arm presses & curls. Today (5.5 weeks post op) I was able to drive for the first time, so headed to the regular gym:

Safety Bar Squat:

65 kg x 5
85 kg x 5
105 kg x 5

115 kg x 5
115 kg x 5
115 kg x 5
115 kg x 5
115 kg x 5

Much easier than expected. I thought my legs would cramp up and be ruined, but looks like the leg presses etc kept me ticking over ok.
