I see a lot of this - people on their own in a car wearing a mask. Why?!?

I have no idea but it looks very strange

I'm surprised they have the guts to leave the house

I would assume that they are not going far and so leave it on for the few minutes they could take it off. On Saturday I donned my mask for the pie shop and left it on until the chip shop, rather than remove and replace it.
On occasion, after my weekly Tesco run, where a mask is mandatory, I have driven home with the mask on merely because I forgot to remove it. Not often, but it has happened

I'm sure that explains some of them, but I really do think that some people think the whole atmosphere is polluted with Covid and the mask protects them like a gas mask.

Many people don't want to touch their face accidentally, while taking a mask on/off. My Mrs does home visits for social work. It's not really on to use clients toilets, so she doesn't have access to hand washing for hours at a time. The alcohol cleaner isn't the same.

we purchased a yogurt making machine this week... pretty good as long as you mix it with honey or its bitter as hell for the kids.

we are also planning to grow vegtables/ a small orchid and have livestock when the house purchase completes.

the goal is less reliance on the government and food suppliers and goods suppliers in general.

Being from Scotland, this practice of looking abroad for news on important goings on in my country is second nature. We cant trust the British Biased Corporation here on account of the continual lies they spread up here.
Like you mention, Australia seems to be one of the better sources. Even Sky news forces the BBC to tell the truth when they arrive. It's a pretty bad state of affairs.

A few of those sky news Australia videos showed up on my youtube. My initial thought was that their content seems a bit bonkers and very similar to Fox news in the US.

Origin of Covid — Following the Clues

Did people or nature open Pandora’s box at Wuhan?

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted lives the world over for more than a year. Its death toll will soon reach three million people. Yet the origin of pandemic remains uncertain: the political agendas of governments and scientists have generated thick clouds of obfuscation, which the mainstream press seems helpless to dispel.

In what follows I will sort through the available scientific facts, which hold many clues as to what happened, and provide readers with the evidence to make their own judgments. I will then try to assess the complex issue of blame, which starts with, but extends far beyond, the government of China.

By the end of this article, you may have learned a lot about the molecular biology of viruses. I will try to keep this process as painless as possible. But the science cannot be avoided because for now, and probably for a long time hence, it offers the only sure thread through the maze.

The virus that caused the pandemic is known officially as SARS-CoV-2, but can be called SARS2 for short. As many people know, there are two main theories about its origin. One is that it jumped naturally from wildlife to people. The other is that the virus was under study in a lab, from which it escaped. It matters a great deal which is the case if we hope to prevent a second such occurrence.

I’ll describe the two theories, explain why each is plausible, and then ask which provides the better explanation of the available facts. It’s important to note that so far there is no direct evidence for either theory. Each depends on a set of reasonable conjectures but so far lacks proof. So I have only clues, not conclusions, to offer. But those clues point in a specific direction. And having inferred that direction, I’m going to delineate some of the strands in this tangled skein of disaster.

science writer for Nature, Science and NYT deep dives into the lab question.

a tiny portion of an excellent interview with a wapo foreign policy columnist. talks through the lab theory for maybe an hour and then goes on to detail US/China relations and the threat that a rising china poses. highly recommend watching the whole interview on spotify if you are at all interested in geopolitics.

Thats a very good podcast, he certainly makes a good case for the virus originating in a lab.

Ok so having done a bit of a deep dive on the potential origins of covid, I'm now pretty much of the opinion that the virus escaped from the lab in Wuhan. This is due to the weight of circumstantial evidence, which far exceeds the evidence for the virus having emerged naturally. If this is eventually proven true then Fauci will have a lot to answer for. Also, the US needs to stop outsourcing its dirty work to China.

This is my first post on this thread.

My opinion is that Covid 19 is apocalypse light.

When apocalypse official release comes out there wont be too many of us left. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up to the opinion of the individual. I wont let my opinion on that matter be known.

Hi Wiegieboard. I think apocalypse official could be something like an asteroid hitting the earth. Wouldnt that be so freaky?! But according to some scientists on a video I watched today, we should be safe from asteroids for the rest of this century at least. I'm glad, cos its something I've had a phobia about since I was a kid.

'Far more likely' coronavirus came from lab, ex-MI6 chief tells LBC

Coronavirus was more likely to have escaped from a lab than to have come from an animal, the former head of MI6 has told LBC.

Sir Richard Dearlove said aspects of the virus "point in the direction of it being somewhat tailored" though he warned this may never be proven.
