always lookIng for the extra UT2 work. Member 9, 18279 posts SQ 210, BP 167.5, DL 260637.5 kgs @ 103kgs UnEq | Sorry, I have heard of that, I just didn’t recognise the acronym. It does sound like it makes a lot of sense. Next question - who gets it? I’m presuming from the title everybody, but I know what assuming can do...

And unconditionally, so indeed if you want to stop work and live very frugally you could.

It's not fascist to decline to publish lies. Arguably the actual Nazis who answered his call for insurrection are relevant to a discussion of fascism, mind you. As for "silenced"... if only the most powerful man on earth had some other way to address his people, eh? You've completely missed the point. The precident of a corporation muting elected officials they don't like, at the highest level, is firmly set. Who cares if it's Trump today. We are in big trouble when politicians have to follow the corporate line or risk being deleted from the internet.

For most people, 1200 per month + some extra cash-in-hand for a few jobs would be brilliant. How could that be sustainable?

If Trump wasn't President he'd have been banned off all his social media a lonngggg time ago.

still a devious weightlifting bastard Member 43, 14374 posts | I had a dream that Kamala Harris sat on my face for a proper good muffin the other night. After about a half hour she stood up without saying a word, pulled on her power suit trousers and went about her business. #zmanights

Everyone's cool with Trump getting the shaft because he's a jerk/hole/fascist/meanie/insert your insult of choice here. But what about when this power gets turned against someone you like?

But it needs to be livable, or there's no point. I think a lot of people would still want to work, because they like that sense of meaning. And a lot would still want to work for a better standard of living. I wouldn't be quitting my job, even if roughly half my monthly net were suddenly not a direct consequence of it. It would mean fewer people being forced into s**tty jobs to survive. Employers would actually have to pay enough to make such things worthwhile. I regard that as a feature, not a bug. As for affordability - we afford all kinds of other things. If you look back at predictions in the 50s, everybody thought the automation age would lead to everybody working half the hours for the same amount of money. What actually happened is half of us work the same hours for the same money, most of the rest get almost nothing, and a few cream off most of that productivity gain for themselves. That may or may not be how we want to go on, as a society.

Nobody before Trump made much use of social media. They actually spoke to the people on television and held news conferences and all that good s**t. He's a million miles from silenced, he can say whatever he wants and it will be reported everywhere. Facebook is a business, not a human right.

I, like you, would still choose to work if this is how things were. I’m not sure about everybody else. How have the trials gone? It almost sounds too good to be true. Who would actually pay for it? Supporting the poor is something I’m definitely in favour of, as I’m sure most are. LOL Andy - I don’t even know who she is.
