Well, I was really referring to those who have done loads of extra stuff since March tbh. Assuming the extra time was because they are furloughed.
Good to see some still managing to work too.
Rick, my experience of teachers (from my daughters high school) is that they did very little whilst schools were shut. There was no live zoom lessons. Just the bare minimum of work set online, and imo not enough feedback about work completed. I’m glad that’s obviously not the case in all schools

There does seem to have been a very wide range of performance. Obviously we're enormously helped by the presence and familiarity of the technology (though next to none of us had used zoom before, most of us were comfortable with Showbie etc and the iPads themselves, and the kids certainly were). I know, from friends who are parents elsewhere and from their kids' friends, some state schools did phenomenally well under the circumstances, whereas some appeared not to try very hard (though all will have been dealing with key worker kids under difficult circumstances, which is largely invisible to the rest of the outside world).

Unfortunately, education funding has been cut to the bone and then beyond. Institutions like mine already have a number of unfair advantages, and the alleged advantages enjoyed by parts of the independent sector with last year's assigned grades is nothing on the advantages those able to teach through will have if we do have exams in summer.

Whilst there were several points that were pretty s**t, outcome wise it's been a great year for me.

Comps being cancelled meant I could get stuck into training in the garage and just work hard consistently for months.

With gyms closed I wasn't coaching at the charity I'm involved with so saved myself hours of train journeys each week which helped my recovery much more than I expected it to. We thankfully now have staff to cover my classes so I can stop running them safe in the knowledge that the work the charity does will continue and I can purely focus on being an athlete.

These two things have helped me have an amazing training year and hit new one rep maxes in all my main lifts for the first year since at least 2015 maybe longer which I would have sold my soul and everything I own for at the start of the year!

Also besides covid absolutely skinting me for a bit with the first lockdown my client base has grown a lot after each lockdown and now my online coaching business is way more successful than it ever has been so, touching lots of wood, I'll be making a decent ish amount of money next year for the first time in my life!

I've got to be honest, writing all that out was pretty cathartic so sorry if it was a lot of waffle

I moved to a village in the country. Sick of rat race city. Unfortunately I overdid it on box move week and have a limp and weird back for a month. It wasn't doing away so I had an MRI just before Christmas. They found a disc bulge and I have a new years Specialist appointment. I just want to know what I can can't do at this point. e.g. running makes my low back sore. Legs get weak if I squat over 130kg or clean and press for reps.
I started sea swimming and hiking bits of Wicklow Way with my Mrs to fill fitness void. That's been great. Also trying boho beautiful yoga videos from on here with her. Yay for yoga pantsHappy
Got a Triumph Speed Triple motorcycle for days I've to attend work to avoid busses. Learned to wheelie at 40years old.
I have been playing electronic music with an mpc. Always wanted to be proficient at music, but don't enjoy pc DAW, so mpc a revelation. Also a bit of Ukeule Bass.
I have been putting off sorting my divorce settlement remortgage stuff since 2012. Finally got the bank to do it as worried about a post Covid crash and the joy of negative equity.
Then got all the paperwork for getting married next year. Hopefully will have more than 6 people at the wedding depending on lockdown.
Stopped wasting so much money in pub and started enjoying house parties in mates. I'd always avoided these.

it is interesting seeing that many have made good training progress during the enforced break from competition. I wonder if we limit our potential progress by competing too much?

I think it can go both ways but competing too much certainly has a chance of holding you back. Too easy to push hard all the time if you have lots of comps coming up

Being more protective of me and family time. I doubt I will be missing any important family event or opportunity to spend time with friends to earn a few quid again. I definitely spent too much time working the last 15 years.
