What are the benefits of the "cold shower" other than good for removing lactic

Apparently cold water swimming is great for helping with depression, who would of thought it!

You do feel really good afterward (especially if its after training) it reduces inflammation and general muscle soreness , boosts the immune system and supposedly 'trains' the vascular system to be stronger.

i have listened to all his stuff and read the books , he is a bit of a guru type but i like him !

he also does breathing exercises

Assuming you have logged them

Go to Logbook look through each years history

There is the search thing on the right where you can type in the distance and pace and the internet magic shakes them out for you.

Or if you are an anorak like me you will have them logged in your diaries.

Odd how your HR went down but your pace sped up slightly.

Make sure you leave yourself a couple of easy days before your 2k.

I did 500 or so meters really slow then decided to put a little more effort in to get all my splits to 4 minutes

Sat, 11:47 - Race 112 - LM, LW, LM U23 2000 meter

superb !! I actually entered twice ...first time in the age group ...then when i realised i had no chance of qualifying for the worlds, I entered the Lightweight Open so i could race with 2 other lightweights who I enjoy occasional rowing banter with on twitter !!

What time is the other race you are in? Any chance you might do both? (every chance I reckon)

Well, I opted for 3 x 1000 2r over 4 x 1000 5r ..as the 5 minute rest isnt part of my training so it would be difficult to guage fitness , doing 3 reps with 2 rest is somthing i have done a few times.

Went well, really hard work on the 3rd rep , dare i say the first 1000m was fairly comfortable.

3 x 1000m 2 min rest

  • 3:29.9
