Who remembers this? I watched it live.

On reflection I LOL at the commentator describing Frederick as "the worlds greatest NATURAL athlete"

Boy and I were doing some "jumps"

I got the tape measure out to show him 8.95m

From the back door we had to open the front door and mark the step He jumped longer than our house!!

Fair jump that.

I was the best at long jump when I was in school and from memory I think he's nearly doubled my best Happy

I don't recall watching it live, as I was only 1 year old but you never know.

Carl Lewis is the most exciting athletics star. Ups and downs plus controversy.

Bolt just won all his races.

Carl Lewis won 4 gold's in his first Olympics equalling Jesse Owens.

Was part of the most famous drug scandal race.

Greatest long jump comp ever

4 Olympic long jump titles on the bounce

A 100m wr in 1991 that was unexpected.

He is a bit weird. But pure talent.

I really don't know how there isn't a movie on him. He is the Muhammad Ali of Athletics...Bolt is like Floyd Mayweather.

Jonathan Edwards was a special athlete. Weird to think he is 54. Almost as weird to think he has held the triple jump record since 1995.

When Michael Johnson described Usain Bolt as a once in a generation athlete, he hit the nail on the head. High praise from an absolute nebuchadnezzar of a runner.

My main childhood memories of athletics are of Steve Cram.
