I think that I stepped up the intensity with my 20 rep squatting routine a little too quickly. As such, I have the beginnings of patellar tendonitis in both knees. I have fairly minimal discomfort when I'm not training, albeit I feel it a little when getting out of a chair or similar motions.

I've had initial discomfort when warming up for squatting but it's been OK once thoroughly warm. There has been discomfort post-training though.

Anyway, I imagine that many of you have had similar issues. What have you found helps? I've watched a lot of Youtube videos on rehab, so I've got some ideas. It's just very frustrating as the strength came back so quickly (after a 12 year lay off) but obviously I should have been more gradual in my build up.

Sled dragging

I had it bad when I was larping as a 105. tried all sorts of things without much success. it went away when I lost weight.

this is supremely unhelpful I know. Grin

Haha! I love squatting, especially 20 reppers. I didn't have it before when I trained 13 years ago, but I think I possibly built it up to quickly this time around.

I've got TKEs and glute work in the rehab so far, but I'd forgotten about bird dogs. I don't have access to a sled.

Has it come back again at all?

I'm sat at about 120kg at the moment, which for 6ft 8" is still pretty slim. I did walk over 10k today without any discomfort. It's just bloody squatting.

no, not since I dropped from 105kg to 90kg. I used to get tendinitis in my forearms too which also cleared at the same time.

however, at the same time I lost the weight I also became a lot more flexible - learned to snatch and squat clean. so it could be one or other or a combination of the two.
