Hi Happy

I have extremely limited access to the internet at the moment, but am just taking this opportunity to pop in and start this thread.

Lockdown highlighted that I have a mental/emotional 'need' for exercise, and it applies slightly more to cycling/walking than to weights, although I couldn't do without the weights either. The thought of exercise potentially being restricted was a worrying one. So, I guess I'm addicted to some degree.

Are you?

Nope.

I guess I do it out of habit a lot.
I like the results more than the actual work.

I prefer sitting at home doing nothing tbh

Definitely feel a strong "need" to move around on a regular basis, but lifting isn't the top priority in that regard.

Yes.

the desire to be healthy, strong and look good.

addicted to vainity and moreover, desire Id say.

Although, its an addiction that doesnt really hurt others... unless it impacts on family life of course - then obviously thats no different than 70s man down pub is it? is it??

All desire leads to suffering. do we suffer exercise? doesnt feel that way!

sorry what was the question again?

oh yes, Yes then it is...

3000£ spent on the equipment during lockdown would suggest yes.

Yup. I miss the people, and looking less like an albino binbag full of jelly, and to some extent training as a meditative practice. But it always a thing I wanted to have done, rather than wanted to do.

I would say I'm addicted to 'doing something'. I think to live a healthy life you need to fill 'that' gap with something, whether it's walking / lifting / any other sport / hobby / work.

Gotta keep busy

kinda agree with this but instead of just being 'busy' for me it would be about self improvement. for me, the point of life is to continually progress physically, mentally and spiritually. generally, if im not doing something to that end im unhappy, so you could say im addicted to that.

Yes I run pretty much every day

Walk loads

Went back to my bread and butter of kick boxing and do plenty of bag work, press ups and other circuits

Don't miss weights that much

I'm fit again, my resting heart rate is so low at the minute

Dropped lots of fat

I was a mediocre lifter at best and gained size easier than strength

I doubt I will ever lift heavy again

If I do? It will be for body composition and I won't be natty

I probably am.

I don't need to lift weights but I'm generally far happier after a training session than i am if I've not trained for a few days.

Even on holiday i generally have to get at least a couple of sessions in.
