Member 4496, 1446 posts SQ 240, BP 200, DL 300740.0 kgs @ 112kgs UnEq | Never used wrist wraps for bench and have been ok up to 200 without them. Dont use a belt for deadlifts as i dont feel it helps at all and sometimes even a hindrance as it nips me. I mainly hook grip but straps are good as my hands tear up doing multiple sets. Squats i feel the belt helps me massively and knees feel much better with sleeves so i use both of these

his poor male ego must be crushed Member 883, 6251 posts SQ 290, BP 180, DL 420890.0 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | I use whatever equipment I need in order to lift the most weight to win events. Its a sport, that's the whole point. If you don't compete it doesn't really matter.

I don't see the point in alot of the extra equipment people use nowadays. Most people just use it to lift more, which I think kind of defeats the object of strongman Chalk and lift. Or chalkless if your really picky, but the chalk just helps suppress the ol sweaty palms. -ban tacky -ban straps -ban suits -ban belt cleans -ban sleeves -ban wraps What about lifting shoes?

But that same exact thing applies to lifting shoes. If people are wearing lifters it is too improve their lifts, just like tacky or a suit. I can't understand the logic that says 1 is ok whereas the others are unfairly enhancing the lifters ability.

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | party of the beauty of strongman as a sport is the lack of standardisation in equipment and events. in a way it is the most democratic of sports - competitors can vote with their feet if they disagree with what an organiser is doing. in other sports you have to like it or lump it or you get a couple of choices. im sure there is someone arguing to ban spikes for sprints but at the end of the day they will have to like it or lump it.

Interesting Member 6186, 245 posts | My take on raw or lifting with a bench shirt of squat suits is that raw is without the shirts or gear. We have to appreciate that sports evolves look at Rugby with body armour protection, football with ankle guards etc and tennis with elbow straps and knee straps, all sport now have some degree of support or protection equipment. I think in Powerlifting and Strength sports I think there is nothing wrong with a pair of weightlifting shoes, belt and knee/elbow sleeves for support, it the 21st century and some apparel with support/protection is part of the sport. If someone can lift heavy weight without a belt and wrist/knee support then that is true raw strength and no grey area. The problem we have sport has grey areas, look at formula 1, it would be better if all the drivers drove the same car, if golfers used the same golf clubs, if elite cyclists rode the same bike with unshaven legs and swimmers did not wear carbon flex hydrodynamics FINA spproved tech suits, the list goes on. What I do have an issue with someone who is clearly overweight and unhealthy waddling up to a monolift and half squatting and being out of breath in a squat suit. I think strength sports should be about a strength and conditioning you should be able to move, be mobile, be healthy and strong. Like with anything it is about balance, having support but not cheating.

Aka shin guards in football don't make you a better football player
