He said a few months ago when fighting eddie was mentioned that he would want to train properly for it, maybe when his strongman career had ended. | ||

There isn't exactly a glut of acting roles for non-actors who only offer a 6'10, 200kg physique to things... and he isn't going to be a pro fighter for 2 reasons: 1) he'll be s**t at it and would get destroyed by any pro-HW fighter and 2) he is far too large to be anything more than an old school K1 freakshow.. it was tough for Mariusz to make 265, Thor could never do it. Not hating on the guy at all, I think he is the strongest person in history now.. but strongman/strength sports are his game, not acting or fighting. | ||

Strongman hasn't really got any money in it, he isn't going to do a boxing career no but this one 6 figure fight deal with eddie hall will earn him more than he would get in the next 5 years of strongman. He may get a role in the odd film but nothing again like Game of thrones. | ||

Member 4646, 1964 posts | There definitely is money in strongman at the moment..the Bahrain show was going to pay him 100k for deadlift and 75k $ for show win...Arnold offered the same the month before. The YouTube money will be good also. Then sponsors. He earns a lot...but 7 figures is better than 6 figures. I also think I read the fight is next April. I reckon he will definitely do WSM in November, unsure about next year. But he bounces back so quickly from losing weight that he could be competitive very quickly. | ||

I think if he trains just for the big shows, he can chase the coin and try to balance it with health... Ultimately he is a freak show, because if his size and strength. He can’t act, so that’s a no go, so lifting along with social media and merchandising will be his income. I don’t know how his vodka business or others are doing mind. Regardless though, Ed did the same. Retired to focus on health and other sources of income. Ed has far more personality and charisma then Thor, but not the freak show look or vibe. | ||

Not saying you're wrong, but is it because Ed acts hard? Boxing is a sport that I used to train in, but fought mostly in kicboxing Size and reach are massively important and also weight Street fighting doesn't always come into it I don't know what both guys creditionals are If you read Eds biography you will be led to believe that he would crush Mike Tyson, never mind Thor For now until I see proper training videos, I am picking the guy that looks the better of the two and it isn't Eddie | ||

Their technical abilites are probably close to none...so Thor is an Icelander. Icelanders are warriors. Only tough guys can live there. He competed at ESM and WSM with Ben Palsy. Specialized training for deadlift or loglift record is buls**t. It turns into powerlifting. Records should be broken during competitions. For years ESM is totally outclassed by Deadlift or Loglift championships. And plenty of the field specialize on certain lift, multiple guest lifters are invited and so on. It's normal the numbers and the pool of athletes who hit these numbers to go higher. It's a moonface era now. | ||

Thats why i turned away from viewing strengthsport stuff daily. Those old times with Z and so on...they were really interesting, but now everyone and his dog are some sort of instagram/youtube guru. | ||
