i think this thread i all about the healty compotition between individulas who share the same goal to get stronger and better in there given field of weight training. and it always spurs me on when you see some one getting close to your bench or log press

Thanks guys, Well I guess each to their own on the gym lifts or not, Can someone change the status to equipped please as they were obviously not unequipped except the deads.

I agree that it should not be just competition lifts on the league. Not everyone here even competes in powerlifting, and a comparison exclusively of powerlifters is not and never was the point - it was just for everyone on the board to log and gauge their progress against other people. Of course people need to be honest about their lifts - but a lot of people on here know each other anyway and trust them not to put up high squats and touch and go benches (or to admit it when they do!).

My immediate aim is to overtake Olly's deadlift, one weight class below - and beat him to 600lb (although he needs to not be injured sharpish for this race to really mean anything). Apart from that I'm not overly concerned to measure myself against anyone in particular.

At the moment i would like to beat my former training partner kenny jackson former silver medalist at the world junior championships he has done 240 squat 145 bench and 250 deadlift altough he was only 67.5 or 75k lifter. He was a great lifter and represented great britain senior team when he was 14

This fed, that fed, single ply this, double ply that.. The weights all become relative to personal performances only and with so many variables coming from such a cross section one persons lift cant be compared to anothers. The equipment is great until some to**er plays the 'raw' card, usually a bitter and twisted lemon fresh Olympic lifter.
I agree with Tony, not just cos he's ard, but because I think he's right. We shouldnt mock the afflictedWink

While I agree with you and Tony entirely, I have to point out that you're pretty much the least likely person to play the raw (or indeed juice) card of anybody I know. Adlington spirit and all that Happy.

LittleA's "lemon freshness" went out of the window on that glorious day when he first wrapped his knees. Admitedly he does the odd, rare, ass to grass raw lift - but only with weights that can correctly be addressed by girl's names. When the pressure is on - he reaches for the equipment, just like the rest of us.

Remotely playing the "raw" card however is exactly the knid of neferious activity he revels in

Well said! i couldnt have put it better myself.

I like a bit of friendly compition here its a good atmosphere if we start looking at comp lifts then it rapidly goes down hill, someone will b**ch about tested/untested lifters, raw, single ply, double, tripple ply.
