Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17816 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Changed my bedding last night, which is always one of life's little treats and was rewarded by sleeping to gone half nine this morning. Combined shopping and exercise to stock up on soup, milk, bread and frozen dinners all paid for by contactless, non disease transmitting payments. I have a bag of change, it sits on a table in the front room and since Tuesday of last week it has remained literally untouched. I used to use cash in the coffee machine at work, I used it in the canteen, had to, no option. Thursday nights were always cash transactions. Petrol was always cash as the one time I had a card cloned it was at a petrol station. Chippies are cash as were McDonalds. It was my custom to put copper coins in charity boxes. I wonder how the incomes of charities has been affected now that cash has become so unloved.

My guess is charities in general have benefitted from the digital age. I see birthday fundraisers all the time on Facebook. There’s always some fundraiser or another doing well on social media platforms I use. I could be wrong of course, I often am

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17816 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Just finished reading Fleming's Casino Royale, not bad but not overly good either. Interesting to compare it with the films. However one sentence did stand out like a lighthouse on a dark night. Here it is - "Then he lit his seventieth cigarette of the day and sat down at the writing table with the thick wad of his stake money and winnings beside him and entered some figures in a small note book." The fact that it was his seventieth cigarette makes that a stand out sentence, but isn't that a very strange start to a sentence ? It looks it to me but my knowledge of s**t like this is very restricted. The sentence before it ended ".....Bond undressed and took a cold shower" if that helps. Am I making mountains out of molehills or could I just be correct, for possibly, the first time in my entire life, on matters concerning language ?

Last I recall I was a shade over 300, so close to a stone gone and little or none of it will be fat cos your body loves that stuff

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22018 posts | I'm a big fan of cash and use it for 99% of transactions. I realise this makes me unusual in this day and age, but I intend to hang onto this style of exchange for as long as possible. I like going out with a bag of coins Electronic exchange is open to fraud/crime, system failure and tracking/monitoring. I'm not tech savvy enough to have confidence in the security of it all.
