It would never have occurred to me not to pronounce it "Hor-hey". But then it would never have occurred to me to pronounce Brooke the way you do Happy.

No doubt the benefits of educating a child rather than punching him in the face.

But how did you even know ? You could have given me a hundred attempts attempts at pronouncing "Jorge" and I would have NEVER have even thought of "Ho-hay" (the newsreader didn't have an "r" in it)
"
Then again, the catholic schools I attended told me "Jesus" was "Gee-zus" whereas the Brazilian chap who plays for Manchester City of the same spelling is "Hay-zoose" I do not doubt that, after all it is his name, but how was I supposed to know ? And my education tells me that if you call the born-in-a-manger bloke "Hay-zoose", you'll burn baby, oh how you will burn, and for an eternity too.

'Horhey' is an acceptable pronunciation if your can't make the Spanish sound which is a soft version of the sound in 'loch'. The proper Spanish pronunciation is XOR:xeh, but HOR:hey is adequate.

I suspect I know because I remember Jorge Posada, the baseball catcher, from when I followed the sport.

Well whatever his name is, he never showed up, no wind or rain last night, nor this morning, in fact walking home after breakfast earlier, it was very pleasant sunshine

I never heard of the man but that is a very reasonable explanation of how you know.

Monday, 2nd March, start 16:00

Before I started today I did a bit of foam rolling for the hip, it was deeply unpleasant but nothing I did not expect.

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 3
70 x 2
80 x 1
90 x 1
100 x 1
110 x 1
120 x 1
115 x 2
110 x 3
105 x 4
All the singles were paused and then the sets were touch and go. The 120 single was fine, hard but fine. The 115 double was ok but I experienced some discomfort in the left elbow at lockout, the 110 triple was the same but the discomfort was greater and the 105 for four was the same but downright painful. No point being silly about this so end it right here right now. As I finished earlier then expected I tried some bonus foam rollering, still deeply unpleasant but this time as I struggled to move my bulk about the elbow was screaming. It would appear to be well and truly f**ked and most annoyingly of all - no real idea what has caused it.

Wednesday, 4th March, start 16:00

Arrived to find Mack training without lights which is excellent news, so to celebrate I had a session with the foam roller before starting which was as unpleasant as ever but whereas the elbow was screaming on Monday today it merely complained quietly which is surely something gained.

Hack squat
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
110 x 5
120 x 5
130 x 5
140 x 5
150 x 5
160 x 5
170 x 5
180 x 5

These were much better than last time, the only problem with the hips and back was believe it or believe it not immediately after getting changed, on the initial standing up. I am not sure, but I suspect it may be a good thing

Started with some foam rollering which was awful as always

Tricep pushdown
30 x 10
35 x 10
40 x 10
45 x 10
50 x 10
The elbow didn't like the first set, working on the principle that it may ease up if I did more, I did just enough to prove that theory wrong tonight.

End.

bas***d !

Hung around to watch some lifting by folk who are not cripples and had an interesting chat with the good doctor about the AGM of last weekend

The elbow is much better than last week but nowhere right, so we must experiment

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
Not that bad really, the hardest part is re-racking the bar believe it or not. I had no wish to higher than ninety tonight though nor to do any more than three sets. Not very painful, but it does feel weak and awkward

Left home this morning in semi daylight and arrived at work in more or less daylight.

It does make a difference.

I believe that next year in March the EU will put their clocks forward one hour and those countries that want to will never touch theirs again.

In October the countries that want to will put theirs back one hour and then never touch theirs again.

How that affects us non-Eu countries remains unclear, we'll probably go forward half an hour and stay there as we are the masters of compromise and getting things wrong.Unhappy Unhappy Unhappy

Shortly after lunch my hip and back started to ache for no apparent reason, because of this I decided to ditch the deadlifts and concentrate on Hack squats. I had severe doubts about these as well but if I have learned nothing in the last forty years I have learned that you have to give it a go. Suck it and see for want of a better phrase.

Hack squats. Knee sleeves are worn
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
110 x 5
120 x 5
130 x 5
140 x 5
150 x 5
160 x 5
170 x 5
180 x 5
190 x 5
200 x 5
Difficult to describe, but the heavier it got and the better the back felt. It still doesn't feel right but it did improve as we progressed. The hip gave no trouble at all. Over the last few times I have stopped at 180 but the 180 tonight was really fine so I carried on, the 190 wasn't too bad at all but the 200 was heavy enough.

Now we have to see what tomorrow brings

Not feeling too bad this morning. Legs are sore obviously and will get more sore as the day goes on, but that is a pleasant soreness. The unpleasant kind is not too bad at all.

Weighed in at 136.3 last night which is 300 lbs in old money.

I also have had cause to look up the price of a twenty pack of benson and hedges, as on the 30th of this month it is forty years since I quit smoking. More on this nearer that date.
