In fairness, other than one atypical section of my life I could cheerfully manage without cash at all. The last thing I needed it for was the bus, and they all do contactless now. As to mortality, Britain so far is under 1%. I believe China, excluding Wuhan where it first appeared, was about 0.6%. In both cases these are of confirmed cases, which by their nature are the more severe ones. Not that that isn't bad enough, don't mistake me. It's not like the NHS is awash with spare capacity; wouldn't take much to tip us into systemic failure. | ||

When you consider that for people who have the virus attack their lungs, they more often than not require a respirator to survive (that is a machine that breathes for you). You can see how the mortality rate has the potential to soar where medical treatment is not available - how many spare ventilators do we think the NHS has at any one time? I might start seeing if I can find some Italians to kiss so that I can get infected nice and early and get treatment if required! | ||

Bought a load of gold in Thailand when it was a lot cheaper, it’s teetering around 1650-1700$ / ounce but quite volatile until more clarity on what level of economic carnage is being caused.
