Sundays seem to be developing into a ‘main day’ for the club.

Some days certainly, but it can vary quite wildly, yesterday was the fullest it's been for a while

Monday, 17th February, start 16:00

The beard has been stroked and there has been pondering to capacity, I have decided to try this -

Bench, very raw, pumps on.
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 3
70 x 2
80 x 1
90 x 1
100 x 1
110 x 1
120 x 1
110 x 2
100 x 3
90 x 4
80 x 5
70 x 8
60 x 10

All the singles were paused and all the reps were touch and go, the 120 was harder than expected, not too hard but harder than expected and the 110 double after it was easier than I thought it would be, in fact all the descending sets were easier than expected and they got easier as they went on. I suspect this is where the bulk of the changes for next week should be made, now we see where the aches develop tomorrow and Wednesday.

Wednesday, 19th February, start 16:00

Time to try squatting again, sleeves and boots on, but before starting I tried for a good long sit and it felt fine, no nipping at all.

20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 2
110 x 1
120 x 1
130 x 1
140 x 1
150 x 1
160 x 1
100 x 3
100 x 3
First thing first, I found it easier than I have for a long time just to get under the bar, which was a considerable surprise, normally I creak and groan quite a bit but there was hardly any this time.

All reps were slow and paused at the bottom as I needed to ease down as low as I could to test the hip, the good news is that the hip nipped only slightly and didn't get much worse as we progressed. The bad news is that from 150 onwards the back cramped as I but the bar down and the 160 was rather an awkward walk in.

Worst of all is that the 100 kilo triples had the back twitching like a frogs legs with a battery connected. Plus when removing my squat boots the hip nipped a little when reaching forward to undo the strap and when sat erect again the back cramped then, just for a second but I really wasn't expecting that.

Not the best news then but at least I have something definite to report back to physio next week,

Back is still feeling a bit ginger so just for a change

Tricep pushdown, very strict
30 x 10
35 x 10
40 x 10
45 x 10
50 x 10
55 x 10
60 x 10
65 x 10
70 x 10
75 x 10
75 x 10
75 x 10

Dumbell curl
10 x 10
12 x 10
14 x 10
16 x 10
18 x 10
20 x 10

Quite a pleasant change. Didn't dislike any of this, the good Doctor entered as I was about to leave so I finished up staying until he'd done. I dislike leaving people if they are benching and I wanted to pick his brains about a film I knew he had seen. That took all of a minute but he is such an entertaining chap it's a pleasure to stay. Tescos on the way home, a quiet day tomorrow and r kid's for tea on Sunday. That'll do.

Too kind, Pedro.

And yeah, if you don't like Knives Out, I shall be astounded. It's a modern whodunit with a vein of the pleasantly ridiculous and a well-developed sense of humor. I shall be buying it myself.

First chance I get it will be snaffled.

A damp and blustery day, so after venturing out for some breakfast and an essential or two, I am home once more, heating on, and I don't intend moving till tomorrow

Today I dine like a king, and I don't have to cook a morsel of it.

Earlier than usual to Adders today as one of the Sunday regulars wants to be back in time to watch the rugby. Seems a strange thing to do but I am nothing if not helpful
