After four events, the top three was:

Bouderault
Licis
Shaw

Bouderault only got two reps in the deadlift: which was only good enough for 7th, or 8th.

He then didn't have the greatest sandbag carry.

So....

The final standings were

Licis - 52
Shaw - 51
Bouderault - 50.5
Heinla - 48.5
Caron - 45.5
Pritchett - 41
Kramer - 31.5
Kearney - 31
Claaborn - 30.5
Garrison - 22

There was a technical issue with the cameras - which delayed the start - and there was an issue with the flooring before the last event.

So expect Shaw to make a video explaining how this upset him.

Roll-Eyes

In the meantime, I was very impressed with Licis. He seems to only be able to bend the knee to Thor.

Sad to see Shaw failing to win qualifiers now. This one and the Arnold’s Europe I think? Father Time catches them all up. I remember in 2016 thinking nobody would be able to beat him for years

To be fair he finished 1 point behind the current WSM. It was still a top 5 in the world performance.

He was 1 point behind the WSM??

Granted he is slightly over the hill, but he is looking in good shape and if he gets a bit more static power back, he will still place high in contests

I do think his days of winning are over, because even if he gets the right events to suit? He will not beat Thor

I am glad Licis made it, I think his prep for this Arnold's will be his best yet...he seems to be over all his injuries.

Shaw actually did decent...his deadlift seemed good, overhead was OK, he just needs to gain 5kg of weight because his foot speed has gone so needs as much points from static events. He can do Australian Arnold's a few weeks later and focus on that. He needs to not injure that hamstring for 2 years.

Thor will win Arnold's.. good events and he seems stronger than ever. If he manages that 900lb frame without dropping he will have zero weaknesses and I think his grip has improved enough that he won't drop it.

Also hope he just pulls 480kg in the deadlift rather than chase 501kg

I actually thought Shaw did pretty well... certainly based on his recent form, coming half a point behind Licis isn't bad!
