That's brilliant. It reminds me of Handsome Fred and his two forks.

Three forks.
Three complete and separate dinners and then that most wonderful of lines -

"and three forks so they wouldn't think they were all for me"

I miss Fred

Very cold tonight, and very quiet, hip and back still not right, physio a week tomorrow so that will be top of the list, meanwhile let's see how it goes

Squat, tracky bottoms, sleeves, squat boots and t shirt x 2
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
65 x 3
75 x 3
85 x 3
95 x 3
105 x 3
115 x 3
125 x 3
135 x 3
145 x 1
105 x 3
105 x 3
105 x 3
Didn't like the 145 at all, no point risking anything, so drop it, three threes and call it a night.
We have two pairs of twenty kilo weights at Adders, two of which are 2.5 kilos heavy, and the others are 2.5 kilos light, I always use these together, as together on a twenty kilo bar they weigh hundred kilos and then you are off and running. So I always put the heavy pair on first, then the light pair and then I start to use the correctly weighted pairs. Although everyone has been told about this more times than I care to remember, very few remember and a few claim to never have been told. Anyhoo, Ian Mac snaffled the light pair after I had already put the heavy pair on. This gentle reader is why all the weights end in a "5" tonight.

The was one while walking down the street in Colne, me, DrRick and Jabba. For the life of me I cannot remember it. Hopefully DrRick will, his brain is considerably larger than mine. It was something to do with how best to frighten a horse.
Our conversation can be quite varied at times.

the mis-hearing was on my part. You opined that to frighten a horse you could "threaten it with a paper bag"; I thought you'd said "threaten to make it pay for parking". Which, in my defence, makes at least as much sense.

That's the one, now you tell me I remember it well, but I could have sat for a thousand years and not remembered that.

Sometimes people tell me things and the light lights and I so wonder why that memory of that place and time disappeared when it should not have. That’s funny Rick!

Woke up Saturday with a runny nose, woke up yesterday with a snotty nose, and this morning was the same as Sunday. Feeling grim, so let's see what today brings

Cold now in full swing, trouble breathing, most of all when lying down, especially if lying on my back, which is unfortunate because it's-

Bench, very raw

20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5

92 x 5
95 x 5
97 x 5
100 x 5
Considering how s**t I feel these really weren't too bad but I am glad I didn't attempt any more. Swung by Tescos on the way home and bought chicken soup, a loaf, some lem-sip type things and some lozenges of the throat soothing variety. We shall see what tomorrow brings

The cold is drying up but the coughing has started and the ribs are sore, all of them. As it is deadlifts I am not looking forwards to this and I did consider, once or twice, to give it a serve, but the guilt of training badly is never as bad as the guilt of missing, so a small but select group of us find ourselves in a cold gym. Mack has brought an extra heater and by the Lord harry it's a good 'un. After a few sets, I was almost warm. here we go then.

Deadlift, sleeves on, slippers on, no belt
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 3
110 x 3
120 x 3
130 x 3
140 x 3
150 x 3
160 x 3
170 x 3
180 x 3
The knee sleeves were a good idea, I also, almost without thinking moved my feet in an inch which allowed the same to be done with the hands. The result was a very likeable position which appears to make keeping the bar in much easier, I went astray on one or two reps but that is merely lack of practice. A very pleasant session if I say so myself and much better than the one I was expecting which only goes to show that you should always go and see.
One minus point, a day's coughing and several sets of deadlifts has made for a rather sore core. It's tender now so tomorrow could be interesting.
I finish tomorrow dinner for the holidays, off till the 2nd of January which I am looking forward to. I have to visit a solicitor tomorrow and physio Friday and then gentle reader I can do what I like.
I will end this post on a serious note. If anyone reading this has not made a will, then you really should give it some serious thought. It is never pleasant to consider one's mortality but mortal we are. There are rules about who gets what if you croak intestate at short notice and never overlook that your main beneficiary may just croak with you. If you are happy with what would happen - fine. But if you aren't, then you need to sort it. You will be happier for having done so.
Apologies for the seriousness, I will endeavour not to do it again.

Edit: missed out the 130 x 3 set. Doh!

Friday, 20th December.

No training today. As it was the first day of the holidays I had a splendid lie in this morning, but the lower stomach is aching somewhat due to the coughing.
Yesterday I receive a phone call that a parcel, which would ultimately be gym bound would be delivered to work today. So at 1:30 I telephoned the receiving department at work and was told the the parcel was there.
I was therefore away to work to pick it up and then off to the club to deliver it. The parcel was then opened and its contents sorted. This caused no small amount of excitement, at the end of which I decided to wait out the time to my physio appointment.

I am sorry to be so vague, but I can say this - SBD is a splendid, wonderful company run by gentlemen of the first water.

The physio was a success and I was advised to take it easy over the coming week, not take it off, just easy, well I should be able to manage that alright

Somebody pointed out to me earlier that -4° is not only cold, but the only temperature that looks like a bloke having a difficult s**t.

Midday training with Joe the Terrible and Tess, their training consisted of some bench pressing and mine consisted of two steak and kidney puddings and some chips.

Neither of them referred to their training as "a delight".

I did.

Joe insists that he has realized that the year after next he becomes "masters 2" and that this has inspired his return.

I hope it does. We'll see.

Some time ago, September if I recall correctly, one of my regular girls declared that she was to return to University to garner another degree and so would greatly reduce the amount of "field work" she did. Basically it was all cancelled until the holidays.

It is now the holidays

She is back

And she is here tonight.

I am beside myself (which is where I like to be best)
