The problem is only meat eaters (+ vegetarians) feel this way.
Live and let live is an approach that most vegans lose as soon as they lose the memory of how sweet bacon tastes.

Why? Well, I feel that I can easily supplement meat based proteins with carefully selected veg source combinations like rice/chickpeas beans/toast etc.

Also, the actual carbon footprint of meat production is horrendous. Yes, I'll have beef now and again (I had the most delicious fillet steak on Saturday) but when the carbon footprint of chicken and pork is something like 1/5 of beef then I'll stick more with them but plants have a carbon footprint of about 1/10 that of chicken and pork and knowing that does make me aware of what I'm doing to the planet.

If you’re aware of your nutritional intake, you can of course get everything you need by eating a plant based diet and supplements to plug the gaps etc.

The carbon food print of farming animals is not that big in the UK compared to other places.

I looked into as many studies as possible a few years back that compared mortality of meat eaters vs non and other factors like bone density, muscle mass etc and there really aren't that many good long term ones I could find.

It turns out there really wasn't a significant difference in longevity but diets containing animal products appeared to support muscle mass and bone density throughout life better so than non animal product diets, especially in women.

Personally I get the s**ts and stomach ache with more than just a small amount of veggies on my plate. Fruit is my preference for fibre and mirco nutrients..plus it tastes gooood.

Plus...burgers.

I used to be "mixed grill guy" but over the last few years my tastes have changed.

Fish, eggs and the odd bit of chicken are now my staples for protein.

Unpickled beetroot has always been my favourite now its getting trendy you can even get beetroot juice yum yum.

The documentary provides evidence, how sturdy it is is debatable. Its argued that not only does a plant based diet increase athletic performance, it also increases sexual potency.

The comment about increasing erection hardness is complete s**te.

As for a vegan diet increasing performance, tell that to Mr Beef and Rice vertical Efferding haha.

He said what I couldn't be arrissed to type the first time around.

I do (or will) have about 80% of my proteins from brown rice and pea protein but that's only protein.
There are a lot more factors than protein alone for the consumption of animal (derived) products.

My brother watched this doc, went full vegan and now won't listen to any evidence (peer reviewed) of why the programme was misleading.

I am sure there are plenty of people who give utter trust to t.v or documentaries because they are professionally presented.

The Netflix/Vox show "Explained" also had an episode on this topic recently. Its ridiculous how many animals we kill on an hourly basis, how the humble chicken has changed from 1950 to today due to antibiotics etc. Its not right.
The solution put forward in this programme is lab-developed meat substitutes that are indistinguishable from the real thing.

I have a relative who, after seeing the recent vegan docs, has got stuck in veganism for health zealot mode. I thought that was only a phenomenon related to the moral issues of consuming animal products. obviously not!

scary how easily programmable people are.
