Fingers crossed for a speedy and smooth recovery.

If Mr Richardson remains injury free, he will win Wsm and will likely become the strongest guy to ever come out of the uk

He is already so f**king strong and still a kid in this game

His potential is f**king mind boggling!

was thinking how every decent strongman who has a go a PL does amazingly well.
is strongman training is inherently better than traditional PL training,
in terms of it builds a better base for the 3 lifts (conditioning levels are so much better)
or.. do the more genetically gifted strength-wise choose strongman?

thor - 1100kg total
loz - once held the all time UK (with easy looking lifts)
hicks - 1100kg +90kg on the all time UK
eddie - would without a shadow of doubt totalled 1200kg at his peak
luke - ok, started in PL, but I bet if he comes back he'll no doubt annihilate records.

I think the biggest thing is mindset for strongman, if you've got a 360 Deadlift for reps at a comp you better get some work in or look a t**t, powerlifting doesn't have this

I think Paul hits the nail on the head Matthew!

If your max is 360 and you need that for reps, then you have no choice but to go beyond 400

It's still crazy how strong these men are now

Only about 10-15 years ago, a solid 400kg pull was rare in strongman, now it's a bloody opener!

I have no doubt Ed could of peaked for 1200 and Hicks will certainly hit a world record imo

How would Eddie get 1200?
Whats his best pull without straps?

Eddie doing 450/300/450 without straps is very doubtful.

Suit + bar + straps massively inflate strongman numbers.

Stiff bar, no suit and no straps and 400kg would be a massive pull again.

I think you could argue the opposite when you see Luke Richardson entering strongman but that's probably more down to him being a really good strength athlete.

I don't think that's a bold claim. He's a gifted athlete, trains like an athlete and has a good head on his shoulders. He will eclipse Eddie hall's deadlift as well in the next 1-2 years.

1-2 years is VERY quick progression, and my worry is a bit too 'quick' without risking his health.

I do believe that Luke will set out to achieve his goals though, he certainly has all the tools to do so.

This is a great point.
Powerlifting seems based on a me vs me approach, it isn't usually viewed as a competitive sport like strongman is.
Things like head to head events force a different perspective on things to a single person on the platform.

Nice to see someone as established as yourself agreeing lol

He does look like a real athlete and will take some stopping!

I definitely agree with you about him surpassing 500kg in the not too distant future!

What is Luke deadlifting at the moment?

It sounds mental to say he'll beat Eddie's deadlift in the next 1-2 years but the lad is a phenomena. It would be great to say that the only 2 people in history to deadlift 500kg or more are from this tiny Isle.

Well Luke has already pulled in the low 4's to power lifting standard I believe. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

What he's pulled beyond that with straps and kit is unknown to me, but I assume has happened at some point so far.
