what is everyone's fran time? Member 3986, 10443 posts SQ 340, BP 200, DL 400940.0 kgs @ 129kgs Eq | I think the biggest thing is mindset for strongman, if you've got a 360 Deadlift for reps at a comp you better get some work in or look a t**t, powerlifting doesn't have this

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5206 posts | I think Paul hits the nail on the head Matthew! If your max is 360 and you need that for reps, then you have no choice but to go beyond 400 It's still crazy how strong these men are now Only about 10-15 years ago, a solid 400kg pull was rare in strongman, now it's a bloody opener! I have no doubt Ed could of peaked for 1200 and Hicks will certainly hit a world record imo

How would Eddie get 1200? Whats his best pull without straps?

no really Irish Member 1196, 5908 posts SQ 312, BP 230, DL 320862.0 kgs @ 114kgs UnEq | Suit + bar + straps massively inflate strongman numbers. Stiff bar, no suit and no straps and 400kg would be a massive pull again. I think you could argue the opposite when you see Luke Richardson entering strongman but that's probably more down to him being a really good strength athlete.

I don't think that's a bold claim. He's a gifted athlete, trains like an athlete and has a good head on his shoulders. He will eclipse Eddie hall's deadlift as well in the next 1-2 years.

I do believe that Luke will set out to achieve his goals though, he certainly has all the tools to do so.

Powerlifting seems based on a me vs me approach, it isn't usually viewed as a competitive sport like strongman is. Things like head to head events force a different perspective on things to a single person on the platform.

I definitely agree with you about him surpassing 500kg in the not too distant future!

It sounds mental to say he'll beat Eddie's deadlift in the next 1-2 years but the lad is a phenomena. It would be great to say that the only 2 people in history to deadlift 500kg or more are from this tiny Isle.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. What he's pulled beyond that with straps and kit is unknown to me, but I assume has happened at some point so far.
