Today I had a mighty sleep, it was gone nine thirty while I finally rose. I watch some TV, checked the tyre pressures on the car, did my weekly shop, dined on fish and chips and watched more TV.

Now this is how to spend a holiday

The easiest route is by the back roads to the M61, then M60 clockwise to M62 and then M62 to junction 20. Those who are familiar with the NW will know that the very end of the M61 is known as "the concrete tunnels", by every traffic broadcaster in the NW because they get mentioned at almost all traffic broadcasts. The only alternative is Worsley roundabouts and they are even worse.

How do Pete. For future reference the easiest way from you to Rochdale would be along the Lancs and take the M60 slip road and on to Rochdale. Have no idea what the traffic is like on the Lancs at that time of day anymore, but I'd hazzard better than Worsley or the 61. Always used to be anyway. yay.

Always good to have options. Unless you're Adrian Mole.

That is not the worst idea I have ever heard. The problem is the time of day, there are two ways to get to Worsley both of them dreadful at that time. I suspect that reaching the Lancs would be no mean feat but that the Lancs would be easier that the M61, the advantage to the way I went was that the trip to the M61 was a breeze. Good shout though.

Reffing at the Roses Cup today, we appear to have a very strong team out, and there are two lifters in particular who I am looking forward to seeing.

While I am doing that a team of very fine fellows should be re-creating Adders to its new glory ready for training tomorrow.

I haven't really missed training this last week as I have been usually busy by my usual holiday standards, but I feel smaller, and am looking forward to starting again. I am unsure what effect the week off will have had, sometimes I think not much, sometimes I think it will have been beneficial and sometimes I think it will have made everything worse.

What an odd thing the mind is.

Dr Who?

Dr Pepper?

Dr Dre?

Dr Strange?

I think Dr Pepper is probably the most well know Dr worldwide due to the soft drinks success (however, this might be cheating)

Actually the name of the character is "The Doctor". The "Who" in the programme title is there to suggest mystery. It's not part of his(/her) name Happy

I didn't give it that long. I recall seeing an episode where someone ran into a mountain and the mountain moved. It was famous for how bad it was. Never liked it, ever.

Went to the roses cup today. Lancashire won again and Yorkshiremen were very thin on the ground. Jord McLoughlin was impressive, Tony Cliffe was lifting equipped in new gear and despite the awkwardness of his new stuff was hugely impressive, he totaled 1100, which requires no further comment.

But sneaking under the radar, the best lifter for my money, in a quiet, understated, never put a foot wrong kind of way was the remarkable Bobbie Butters. Very easy to referee. Remarkable performance. Well played that woman.

Guided by my very dear friend Dr Rick and his encyclopedic knowledge of local eateries I was treated to steak and chips , which doesn't sound much but was better than all the other steak and chips I ever eaten put together.

Where do you do your weekly shop? Is that the only shop that you do or do you top up with sundries throughout the week? If so, Where do you get your sundries?

Monday, 7th October, start 16:30

Because of the considerable disruption last week there will be a large element of "play it by ear" tonight

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 2
100 x 2
110 x 1
115 x 1
120 x 1
125 x 1
The last one was very difficult, very slow, but it was always going. Maybe a bit more throttling back would have been better

Close grip
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
80 x 8
80 x 8

That'll do. First day of the new floor and generally people love it

The weekly shop is done at Tesco's usually on a Friday night after the gym. The way home takes me within a couple of hundred yards of the store so it is no difficulty to just drop in, shop, and then continue home.

Generally, that is the only shop that I do, on the odd occasion that I require more then it depends on the day.

If it is a Monday or a Wednesday, that is to say, a training day, then I swing by Tesco as I do on a Friday, if it is a Tuesday or a Thursday, that is a non-training day them I go home and then walk to a local poundstretcher and it is within walking distance
