That seems an excellent arrangement Pete, I'd do the same if I could afford it. As it is I only dabble a few times a year. Definitely cheaper than dating/relationships, plus variety of partners. For those that way inclined its a winning strategy.

Interesting and entertaining day yesterday, refereeing the masters at Stalybridge, as always we were fed and watered and looked after splendidly.

It is North West po;icy to livestream all their comps which is an excellent idea, but the lovely Kim who works tirelessly and unceasingly on all our behalves and does twenty times the amount that I do did reveal one little snippet.

At a previous comp she had to stand in to referee at very short notice, and on a day when she was not supposed to be refereeing and the comments on twitter etc went, if you excuse the pun "all of a twitter" about her being improperly dressed.

How very dare they!! How very f**king dare they !! bas***ds ! They can't get off their arses and they dare to criticise the person who made it possible to watch from home.

Another plus was the very lovely Phil Frost and the equally lovely Joanne were present which is always, and I do mean always a delight.

It was on Facebook. The very same person complained yesterday that people kept standing in front of the stream camera.

Come to the f**king comp, dear.

Monday, 19th August, start 16:00

Bench, very raw, squat boots on
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 3
100 x 2
105 x 2
110 x 2
115 x 2
Last one was paused on everything above 20 kilos. Not as easy as last week but as it followed a day's refereeing, which traditionally is never a good day, this was really rather grand. Unracked everything myself which improves things a little more.

Close grip
60 x 8
65 x 8
70 x 8
75 x 8
80 x 8
85 x 8
90 x 8

Very quiet today as there wasn't a weightlifter in the place, just me, Dave C, the good Doctor and ju-jitsu guy. It was quiet which only serves to show who makes all the noise.

I do remember Banana Splits very well, I couldn't quite remember the names but I recall the programme. It was on Saturday mornings as I recall and contained many cartoons, the only one of those I remember was "Arabian nights" which contained a character who could assume the form of any animal simply by saying "size of an elephant" and poooooof he was an elephant.

Funny the things we remember.

1968 I was in the second year at senior school, which may not mean much to you, nor indeed to anyone much younger than me. So I was 12 in earth years

I went on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, tell you what, never again

I was told I needed a password eight characters long, so I chose Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

and finally

Why can't hedgehogs just share the hedge

Did any movie ever scare you? Night Stalker Dracula. Dude was in a car 60 mph and this vampire was running next to him. Being a kid the safety of acceleration for excape was trashed. I stayed afraid a week!

The movie that had the most profound effect was John Carpenter's "The Fog" that was so atmospheric that even though I watched it as an adult and around the middle of the day it still caused me to keep looking behind me for the rest of the day. Excellent ending as well

That will do nicely, I sat and thought for quite a while whether or not to do a 200 set. There is no doubt that it would have been done, just a matter of how hard it would be. When I realized that I had sat and thought instead of just doing it meant that it would be prudent not to bother.
This is a little trick I learnt with ju-jitsu guy. I ask him if he can do this weight for that many and if he says yes straight away I know he can, but he he pauses to think about it and then says yes I tell him not to bother as he took too long to decide, and that, in my opinion is his sub conscious telling him not to.
I have now learnt that I can apply the same logic to myself. So all in all a very pleasant evening.

Whilst stopped at traffic lights waiting to cross the East Lancashire road this morning I saw a car whizz through the lights along the Lancs, ignoring the bright yellow speed camera, the speed trap road markings, the speed camera warning signs, the speed limit and presumably the speedometer in his car, get flashed.

I couldn't resist a small chuckle. So I didn't.

And speaking of chuckles I just stumbled across this.

My friend has a pigeon that works delivering urine samples. The bird just got promoted, he is now a stool pigeon.
