My favourite scene in my favourite film is Butch Coolage and Vincent Vega at the bar in Sally Leroy's in Pulp Fiction where Butch tries to buy a pack of Red Apples.

The answer in film was "I think you heard me just fine Punchy" Anything along those lines would do nicely

Yesterday I checked my tyre pressures as always, and due to the drop in temperature they were a little down so I had to inflate a little.

As I did so the pump broke. It is beyond repair so I am on the hunt for a new one.

This classes as excitement in my life.

Squats tonight and I am strangely tempted by sets of ten. Whether I am still tempted in nine hours or so remains to be seen

What exactly is it about the sets of ten that tempts you? Is it the challenge of getting through said sets of ten or is it the gains that will come from it?

Or if you'll still be tempted after the first set of ten has been completed.

Wednesday, 14th August, start 16:15

First things first, while not so hot temperature wise it is very muggy, tonight is going to be moist.

Squat, boots and sleeves and singlet
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
Decision time, decision made
70 x 10
90 x 10
belt on
100 x 10
110 x 10
120 x 10
130 x 10
130 x 10
130 x 10
130 x 10
Huffin' and puffin' a plenty and the last set felt like it might kill me, but it didn't. It was the reps that took the toll rather than the weight. It was all rather enjoyable to do, but not nearly so enjoyable as completing that last rep. That was the highlight of the night

Once the decision is made it is made. Like the road less traveled in Robert Frost's poem "the road not taken" there is no going back, the the first set of ten the die is cast

That is an interesting question.

My career as a powerlifter is pretty much over, I really don't see myself stepping onto a platform again, but I really cannot commit to that. So one day I might.

Conventional peowerlifting training is not conducive to keeping an old fat man in the best of health, so I am tempted to focus on that rather than strength. I stand at the fork in the road, and am reluctant to commit one way or the other, both have advantages and drawbacks. So I will continue to dither and mither and wonder until the scales fall from my eyes and I see clearly once more the direction I would like to take.

I am told that most of those present feared you were going to die, based on the aural evidence.

I fully understand their concerns and part of me is pleased that my training can still make them think that way. The other part of me doubts the wisdom of being pleased about that.

I think "shock to the system" sums it up nicely. the first 6 or 7 were relatively easy, it was 8 to inclusive where the fun started. I would consider this an indicator that I should do more of these.
