Yes indeed, as is February 29th (Thank you Mr. McCarthy)
But could Haydn be described as a regular trainer at Adlington ? He is there frequently but his days do chop and change, so is he regular in one sense but not in another or is he just irregular ?

Is he regularly irregular?

60 x 8

70 x 8
80 x 8
80 x 8

A bridge too far, all these were fair enough tonight and I was confident of getting the eight, it wasn't to be though but as I spent the day referring yesterday and I was on holiday the whole thing wasn't too bad at all

Tuesday, 16th July

Day two of the holiday. Had a schlepp to the Trafford centre to purchase some goodies and had a very tasty burger in the process, as I left relatively early and traffic was light I went the long way around the M60 on the way home and was rewarded with 76.5 mpg.

Very hot today and very sweaty out. Need to rest now, spending money always exhausts me.

Wednesday, 17th July, start 15:30

Day three of the holiday. Regular gentle readers will remember that holidays, heavy training and I don't always get along, and after last times debacle there are question marks all over the place tonight. Suck it and see then

Squat, sleeves and boots on and shimmering like a shimmering thing in the singlet
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
belt on
100 x 2
120 x 2
140 x 2
150 x 2
160 x 2
170 x 2
180 x 2
Oddly after 140 everything felt heavy when I picked it up but much lighter when I actually squatted it, I closed up the increments after 140 as I had no clear idea where we were going. Got Dave C and one of the weightlifters to spot the top set and got DrRick to call it to comp rules. The two reps were easy enough and just in or as Rick puts it "White but I would have sucked my teeth first" All agreed that I just need the confidence to get that final dig in, so I finish it there. There is little point pushing my luck on a holiday. Happy enough with this and hopefully can build on it in the future

Thursday, 18th July

Day four of the holiday. Watched a few episodes of "Year of the Rabbit" starring Matt Berry who is probably best known as "Toast of London"

It is quite amusing but there was one line shouted by a newspaper seller in an early episode, it started "Horrible Murders" and one would normally expect this to be followed by the traditional "read all about it" but in this case it was followed by "f**king pictures and everything"

Laugh !! I had to pause it for about ten minutes until I had recovered my dignity and dried my eyes.

It being Thursday usual traditions will be observed and I will receive a knock on my door later tonight, this was arranged some days ago but I did ring up around dinnertime to confirm the appointment. The receptionist was a stunningly attractive (and I do mean stunning) who also does "field work" so to speak. As this is a holiday I asked if she would be available for a visit over the weekend to cheer me somewhat before my return to work.

She informed me that Sunday would be ideal, on a whim I asked her if she possessed a hat.
"What kind of hat?" she enquired
"A big summery, floppy kind of thing" I suggested
"Not sure" she replied, "I do have a trilby"
A TRILBY !!!!! Oh sweet mother of all that is good and pure
"Would you bring it?" I asked as nonchalantly as I could
"With pleasure" she replied with a voice laced with mischief

I composed myself for the second time today.

I like hats. Don't ask me why. But I do, and when worn by stunning, near naked beauties, I like them a lot.

Friday, 19th July, arrive 14:00

Holiday, day five.

Early arrival today as jujitsu guy has an early start and an early dart for work related reasons, so I was there to cheer him to a new pb of a squat triple of 150. Hoorah for him.

Then I watched young Mack snatch yet another club record of 152.5 for the third time in three weeks

Tbar row
20 x 10
20 x 10
30 x 10
40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
80 x 10
80 x 10
80 x 10
80 x 10

Pulldown to front, wide grip
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10

About half way through the tbar stuff the rain started to hammer down and it was noticed that the guttering was overflowing at a certain point, so I grabbed a ladder and investigated, part of the guttering has dropped and so that section filled with water and overflowed, part way through this investigation I managed to tip the contents of the gutter down myself, particularly in the stomach, thigh and foot regions. Yeah me. Oaf !

Socks dry very slowly

So the holiday is over, just the weekend to go now and then back to work on Monday. It has been fun, I really must do it again sometime.

Probably three to four years. State pension kicks in at 66, so I will probably wait for that. I seem to recall there are financial benefits to working one or two extra years (aside from the extra salary). There is always the possibility that something unforeseen more force me to go earlier but I doubt that.

Holidays are in my view a break from your normal routine, so retirement isn't a holiday, it becomes your new routine and that, to me, makes a huge difference. I don't get bored, but the feeling that I am not doing anything constructive would be an issue, and if you are going to do something constructive, why not keep working and at least get paid for it.

My brother retired a couple of years back, he was looking forward to it and is enjoying it immensely. Sadly, as far as retirement goes, I am not my brother, I expect a far stormier transition. I could be very wrong, I hope I am. But I have always been a creature of habit and have disliked change.

For a long time it has been so far away that I needn't think about it, but now it looms large, maybe I should start, but I do find it a surprisingly difficult thing to do.

Not trying to be depressing but all but one person that retired from my place that I worked are deceased. The one that is still alive besides myself is gravely I’ll. They worked to mostly the last few years of their lives. That’s why I took a cut from my pay and dropped the clutch and left. Now, kinda scared knowing statistically that I am closer than most to the train out of here seeing the reality of time left. I understandd the creatures of habit thing as I am very similar. Kind of mad/sad. I think I chose mad over sad in my case!

Not depressing at all Billy. I am acutely aware of many such instances, where people have a ball for six to twelve months and then seem to decline and wither away. Some manage it and some seem to thrive on it. The main trick seems to be to keep busy but if that is the case why not keep working, maybe on reduced hours but a sense of meaning seems to be the key.

A sense of meaning? I get it for you and other folk. I meditate. Do you?
There’s water on the moon! What will happen when life on earth ends? Will I be tortured for killing a fly that was in my home? Too much thinking is bad I guess? Answers and research is the only way I think?
