Not many down tonight as some are competing and others are celebrating a birthday, in this case a 21st. I don't know what he is up to but I wish him well, he is young, strong, funny, talented and slim and has the world his feet. He also went to the same school that one of our other members teaches at, they gave him an education and confidence and by the Lord Harry you can tell.

I could, I don't doubt I could, my trouble is that I tend to drift like a ship without a rudder, and that doesn't seem like a good way to go into retirement. I just need to find a direction I want to go in, a rudder that can take me there and to have a strong hand on that rudder.

They start us off at the age of five, go to this school five days a week, oh sure the day are short and the holidays are long but they are occupying your timer, then comes another school, then another, then for some - not me - further education. Then work. If I retire in three years time I will have had sixty one years were most of my days were spoken for. To suddenly snip that thread and just leave it dangling is rather daunting. But I will manage to sort something

That took me by surprise, Rick is a seriously smart cookie, to be mentioned in the same sentence is something I will remember for a long time. Thank you.

Do ageing and mortality bother or scare you?

That's a big question.

Death has no fears as being dead is no different to before you were born, just a whole load of absolutely nothing, so nothing to fear there.

Ageing isn't a picnic, the most annoying thing being young people assuring me that "age is just a number" I appreciate the sentiment but it isn't. Nothing is as easy when old than it is when young. Even the stuff you take for granted.

But it is better than the alternative, however there will come a point when enough things have fallen off and enough of what is left aches, and the prognosis will be that anything that does not already ache will start to and anything that does ache will ache more.

That is the point where the NHS should kill us, not in a horrible way but they should send a large, pleasant and splendidly chested woman to let us gaze upon that splendid chest in wonder and then inject us with something that will send us, with a big smile on our faces, to sleep the big sleep.

That in my view would be doing everyone a favour and saving the NHS a fortune which they could then invest in improving the quality of life rather than just extending life regardless of the mess you are in.

Trouble is - the NHS and I are poles apart on this one, I hope the end is quite sometime away yet, but when it does come, I hope it comes quick.

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I wonder how many people would change their mind at the last moment when actually faced with the needle.

Probably quite a few, that's why you have your face in the aforementioned splendid chest. You don't know why she's there, and the needle comes from the side, you never see it. Or she could slip something in your tea.

The important thing is that once you are firmly on the slippery slope they should grease you and the slope to aid the descent and to make it smooth and quick as possible. Try to keep people off the slope as long as you can, but once on it, anything that slows things is cruel and obscenely costly.

You're welcome. It's something I feel strongly about. I went through it with both my own parents and have witnessed many friends go through it with theirs.

It is never pleasant, and the unpleasantness can last for years. The end, when it does come brings nothing but relief to all concerned, but many then feel tremendous guilt at feeling relief at the death of a loved one.

It's a horrible thing

I read that after taking care of your elderly parents that most siblings first feel terrible and come to the rescue when parents are ill. Next it becomes burdensome on them and the take care of their elderly parents by feeling guilt. At the end they are awaiting the end. When the end comes then the return to guilt? I know that I got real skinny and sad when my parents were sick. I was there most every day. Stayed their and joined a gym. Went when they were getting procedures. Had some wild dreams once my mom passed and so the same with my father. Your explanation to me was spot on!

My phone has just told me that over the past week I have averaged 14 minutes of screen time per day. Per day !

Is that a lot ?

Monday, 29th April, start 16:30

Back to work today and 5:30 is awful early, also yesterday was a very long day, we were of the idea that we might just get back around 9 ish, well that was well out I actually got home at around 10:40, I showered, drank a cup of tea, watched match of the day and sloped off to bed. This may affect today's proceedings

Bench, very raw
20 x 20
20 x 20
20 x 20
50 x 5 last one paused
60 x 5 last one paused
70 x 3 last one paused
80 x 3 last one paused
90 x 3 last one paused
100 x 3 last one paused
100 x 3 last one paused
100 x 3 last one paused

Well, I was right, all these felt heavier than they should have and the planned top set of 120 x 3 was pie in the sky, no point bothering about it, so I accepted it for what it was, did what is shown above, help Dave with his equipment and hopefully I can get back on track next Monday.
