I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10032 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | I pull in heels because I find that the start position advantage ought the extra inch on the pull. I don't fail at the ground anyway, but near the top, so a better position helps me generate more speed, which should help. That said, I was always a terrible deadlifter, even allowing for my absurd proportions.

That said, I was always a terrible deadlifter, even allowing for my absurd proportions. Struggling near the top of the lift is normally a symptom of sacrificing optimal (well, optimal "classic" deadlift positioning in any case) start positioning for speed of the floor is it not? This usually means that the hips rise and knees straighten before the bar leaves the floor, thus reducing the moment arm acting on the hips (as they are now closer to the bar) and often the back will round a little shortening the moment arm even further. This gives better leverage for getting the bar moving off the floor, however, when the bar is past your knees, you now have no hip (or knee) angle and but you have still to finish the lift, so you have to rely on your erectors (which are really designed to keep your back rigid as opposed to extending it) to unfurl your back (slow and often not possible with top end weights) to finish the lift off or rebending your knees and hitching it... I may now be rambling...

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17817 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Friday, 22nd February, start 16:00 Arrived to find a couple of powerlifters at the club and one weightlifter rolled in shortly after, windows were open and heaters were off, even the fire door was opened, now that is warm, to celebrate the unseasonal heat we even trained with the lights off until it actually went dark. Tbar row, kilos again 20 x 10 20 x 10 30 x 10 30 x 10 40 x 10 40 x 10 50 x 10 50 x 10 60 x 10 60 x 10 70 x 10 70 x 10 Pulldown to chest, narrow grip 40 x 10 50 x 10 60 x 10 70 x 10 70 x 10 70 x 10 As horrible as ever, maybe wide next week for a treat, thin on the ground tonight, there is a comp tomorrow so a few were AWOL because of that and others were just AWOL. Can't fault the weather though, almost spring like.

The error was mine, it isn't a fire door, it is a fire escape, a door through which one can flee the building should there be a fire between you and the main entrance. We have fire doors at work (in the true sense of the word) and each has a sticker on it that reads "fire door - keep shut" The pedant in me rails at that. How is one supposed to get through it if one has to keep it shut ? Bah !

However, I could imagine somebody propping it open, thinking that counts as ‘in use’. It’s a tricky one... ‘Do not leave open’, maybe? I never said it was easy. The pragmatist in me realizes that "keep shut" is perfectly reasonable. While the pedant rants, the pragmatist shrugs and lets him get on with it. It's like those "take your litter home with you" signs that they put on motorways. I agree with the sentiment but it isn't litter if you take it home. Litter is inappropriately disposed of rubbish. Take it home to put it in your bin and it isn't and never at any time was litter. That one doesn't bother me too much but I consider it important that we at least notice these things. Tesco's (and others) used to have a fast track "ten items or less" till. I used to tell them from time to time that it should be "ten items or fewer" and that I considered it sad that all supermarkets made the same mistake. And what happened ? The dictionary and the lovely Susie Dent decided that enough people had got that wrong often enough for long enough for it not to be wrong anymore. That was a sad day. But I coped.

People here who garage lift want to wear giddies and sweat pants so not to pull muscles. Can’t do it Pete. Shorts and t shirt or tank top socks and think about it bob jovi said dead or alive giving the underdog the feeling that dead superseded alive. Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17817 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Up quite early this morning, tyre pressures checked and car washed, went to Adders to keep DrRick company on his first workout for a while and had a very interesting conversation about words and language with him. He is far more adaptable to change on that front and therefore rants a great deal less and he has common sense on his side. Regular readers will know that not only is common sense very rarely on my side but our paths seldom cross. He is a stranger that I rarely see. Anyhoo, the really odd thing about today is that between parking the car in the garage and walking around to the house, a distance of seventy yards or so - I had five conversations with five different people and received two mobile phone calls from two different people and one text from someone else. The five conversations were face to face with neighbours so nothing unusual there but two calls and a text - on my mobile - in ten minutes - it would normally take a year or so to rack up those kind of numbers.
