Well he changed coach in December, it isn't usually a sign of things going well before then.

He had last year too and finished on the podium. Given that Hall’s retired quite a few surpassed him this year which I find surprising

Find it amazing Bish misses out winning by 1.5 points and barely gets a mention. Congrats old buddy!

Also, massive result for G. Congrats to my fellow Morecambe Mong.

I was at BSM u105kg in 2011 when the result was the same, hixx 1 and Bish 2. Now there is a 10 year (almost) transformation Happy

Bish is at that standard now where a podium is expected as minimum!

Well done Hixxy!

Britain's strongest man!

I knew the guy was a monster at 105 and would make an awesome Open.

But to win BSM against a stacked line up is something else.

Not suprised Bish is top 2. He has been pure class for years.

Big Shout out to Paul Smith!

Keep going forward young man!

Great performances from the top 4. The Stoltman brothers pressing always impresses me.

So many of the 'also rans' (seems a very harsh way to refer to guys at that level, but it is what it is) have a great log press is the problem there. Guys like Downey and Page taking points off him, just can't afford that with such a competitive field.

Curious to see what is next for Smith. We know he expected much better from himself, and it seems unlikely he will get a WSM invite from that performance.

What was the deal with the Stoltman frame carry, wrong hand placement on pickup?

The floor was carpeted and he picked the frame up with the front tilting down (a common technique as it kind of pulls you forward).
However, it was really tilted and it snagged into the carpet, dug in and stopped him dead.

Then then seemed to struggle with getting strapped back onto the frame and only appeared to manage it with a few seconds to go.

Interestingly, the exact same thing happened to Luke, but he managed to recover relativity quickly.

Had the flooring been smooth, he would have been fine.

first of the live arena events I have attended and I wasnt disappointed. couldnt have asked to see a better finish than a hixx and bish stone off for top two.

massive congrats to hixxy - to me, it really felt like it was his time - he had a consistency that no-one else could match. with bish running him so close ahead of the stoltmans, overall the comp had a sense of a changing of the guard.

I dont think anyone should underestimate how good bish's performance was though. criticism of his log I think is premature - he actually blacked out and dropped the log on his 2nd attempt and then came back and did 3 more. without that I think he couldve maybe hit 6 which is where the pack ahead of him finished. after seeing that performance, I dont have any doubt that he will win the title one day.

really enjoyed both the stoltmans performances. luke is a proper showman and a great all rounder and tom is a beast in the making.

seeing phil roberts fold under the stone was nasty. hope he makes a swift recovery.

oh yeah darren sadler is still looking STACKED as f**k. even being a wee man he makes most of the competitors look small.
