I've been squatting 3 times a week for the last almost 3 weeks.
I've gone from being at ground zero and struggling with 60kg, to being back to 100kg for 6 reps. Still slightly sore. I am very narrow stanced and high bar but no depth issues.

Thought a minor amount of strength is returning, I am skinny. 116kg skinny. Haven't been this light since maybe 2011. I fully believe that volume is key to recovery, before heaviest weight attempts.

I will continue trying to squat 3 times a week. I am going Tom Platz on these missing quads.

The main goal is to return to a minimum of a 140kg squat by February.
A 200kg squat by close of next Summer.
I suspect a bit of eating may be in order.

No surprise then. Squats tomorrow.
With some back and tricep work too.

A decent workout.

I only did warm ups within the same exercise, and performed only pull ups and military press.

3 sets of 8 bodyweight pull ups.
3 sets of 3 pulls with 25kg plate.
2 sets of 6 pulls with 20kg plate.
1 set of 8 pulls with 15kg plate.

Absolutely feeling my lats worn out this morning.

Worked on military press.
1 set of empty bar.
1 set of 8 at 40kg.
3 sets of 8 at 60kg.
3 sets of 2 at 80kg.

Quite happy with that. No soreness but a nice shoulder tiredness this morning.
Felt it working my triceps and my shoulders. Going for that "mind muscle" connection again. I am feeling the groove and how not to flare my shoulders there.

On the squats to finish of course. Stuck only to my rehab programme but felt as though I had a lot in me last night. Finished with 5 sets of doubles on 90kg, with 20second break per double.

I think another 8-10 weeks and I should at least manage a few at 120 or maybe 130kg. My back thanks me for squatting 3 times a week. Also finding the hole for that too. Placing the barbell not low bar, nor high bar, just a decent compromise. Lower back is healing.

I did some bench last night.
I wasn't really expecting to, because I want to put all my strength and recovery in to my shoulders for the forseeable future. But I did anyway...

I sort of surprised myself by working up to a very easy triple at 140kg, paused reps.
Now, that is not much on the grand scheme of things but as it is my 3rd of 4th flat bench session in a year and I'm not taking gear. I was quite happy with that.
I feel like there is more carry over from strong shoulders to bench, than strong bench to shoulders.

Anybody else feel like that?

Anyway. I still aim for a 180kg bench by late spring. I won't neglect it, but I think it will take much less effort that can be put in to other exercises.
Still squatting 3 times a week. My back is feeling much stronger, even though it's tired a bit more.

Amazing how forced stress can change the body, if you don't abuse it.

This super weak squatting is a result of some bad wear and tear, a couple of injuries that I can mostly recover from, from Thai boxing and kickboxing.

That is totally "on the back burner" for(ever?) now.
I do miss being bigger and stronger than I am now but I want to build it all back up as cautiously as possible to get long term strength and not just some quick GAINZZZ that might detriment my recovery.

Nice work

Thought you look well...maybe get the strength back but keep as lean?

I see what you mean about that stance mate...Expect big quads.

Hey thanks dude.
I am expecting the strength to come back incrementally but all of a sudden, like out of nowhere, I can warm up with 100kg again! Not a great deal on the overall picture but a milestone for me again.

Yes, quat development 101. I do miss being strong in the back but I'm going to enjoy these legs Grin

After working around and slowly working through some arthritic issues with my lower back - I am feeling some kind of slow but definite progress.

I have mostly abandoned squats (although, I HAVE been squatting regularly since the last post) and I'm focussing on deadlift, with squats as a supplement exercise.

Challenged a buddy of mine to a first to 180kg bench, which is a little above my PB.
Though, he is an experienced PL, so I'm gonna have to come through on this one.

Hoping for somewhere close to it by December or January time.

DL and BP tonight.
