Thanks guys. I was one session away from retirement, so it's good to be posting again. Happy

You won't retire, Martin.

Things might come and go, but...

I've had the trapped nerve for nearly 5 tears now, and an injured shoulder for most of that time. I had had enough. I took 4 months off, played a lot of golf, and decided to give it one more go at the end of September. If that session had gone badly, that would have been it. But it didn't...

Today's Training

Disappointing and frustrating

Normal warm up to 120 for 1
Shirt on (Rage X 48)
140 for 1 - 4 inches
150 for 1 - 2 inches
160 for 1 - locked it but didn't get near a touch
Shirt off
80 for 10 x 3 sets

Dumbell Curls
17.5s for 10 x 6 sets

Face Pulls
30 for 20 x 3 sets

Finish.

First equipped session in about 9 months. Really disappointed. Lot of thinking to do in the next week. Might have to try a bigger shirt next time. I think 99 kg bodyweight is a little to heavy for the 48 given my current strength levels. Wish I had someone who knew about shirts to train with...

Today's Training.

Dreadful. The wheels may be coming off. Not a full session because I'd trained yesterday. I just wanted to try on the bigger bench shirt.

Cut a long story short, I managed a touch with 60 and couldn't unrack 140 because the trapped nerve has come back with a vengeance.

I might have to pull out of the competition, but I still have ten days. Off for a walk and a good think...

Age is not a friend of lifting heavy things often.

Take heart from the good sessions......and remember fast recovery is a thing for the youths!

Cheers Jason. Thing is, this isn't recovery per se. And it hurts just the same on light reps. Unhappy

Yeah, if I didn't have any shoulder bicep elbow or forearm pain I'm sure I could be a decent bencher again!!

The joys of Masters lifting, that one session when the painkillers are working and you hit a decent (recent) pb make it worthwhile.

Today's Training

Nice and pain free, as it always is when it doesn't involve pressing.

Seated Row - 75 for 10 x 5 sets

Lat Pulldown - 50 for 10 x 5 sets

Facepulls - 30 for 20 x 3 sets

Side & Front Lateral Raises - 7.5s for 10 x 3 sets

Dumbell Curls - 20s for 8 x 5 sets

External Rotations - 2.5s for 20 x 3 sets

YTWLs - Band work for 10 x 3 sets

Finish.

Nice wee session. Good to have progressed to 20 kg dumbells for curls, with more in the tank. Off to the dentist, then going to try swimming and see if I can manage a length.
