Are they saying he didn't control it on the way down? I thought it looked good, but I'm not a ref. Downward motion. General concensus is that it was just a bad bad call by the refs.

understanding of the sport, little he has. Member 798, 9942 posts SQ 260, BP 150, DL 272.5682.5 kgs @ 82.5kgs UnEq | LessThanLuke said: Downward motion. General concensus is that it was just a bad bad call by the refs. I've watched it umpteen times now and there is nothing wrong with it in my learned. What does happen as Tom locks the bar out, is that the ends of the bar whip slightly and do sink down ever so slightly as they settle, however there is no downward movement of the bar at the centre where the Man is gripping it. It's a bad call from the side refs!

Lost his pen, then found his pen. #phew Member 4899, 2956 posts | Based on that one angle I would NOT have called downward movement...I'd like to see the side angles though as both Refs obviously thought they saw it.

Does this not happen a lot with deadlifts of this magnitude? Surely the refs must be aware that when a bar is loaded like this upon it stopping there's likely to be some downward movement at the ends?

You've got me to watch it again... there's certainly a moment where something happens with the centre of the bar at just below the bottom of Martin's black suit legs...again though it didn't look like downward movement to me (from that angle).

I live there, and hope to do so for the rest of my days. Me too. If I hadn't got out the sport when I did I'd have been f**ked. However, I totalled 1000kg, and can still lift recreationally and enjoy the rest of my life. My only permanent injury is the knee blowout from my strongman days that will need a knee replacement one day! Looking at this list does make me want to retake the top spot... just a little, but it won't be happening for reasons mentioned above.
