Keep increasing the height or add weight?

I tried holding a weight in each hand, but because of the way I was swinging my arms I wasn't sure if I was actually feeling the weight or not. Thoughts on this?

General Ill is pretty good at these.

For a short guy.

Grin

I think that holding weights in your hands is an odd one: no one is going to do a max height jump with their hands down by their sides.

If you swing your arms up with dumbbells, I am pretty sure your bio-mechanics will get mixed up.

Then again, a box jump is not really a max height jump - unless you are trying to keep your legs as straight as possible - as people tend to end up landing in a squat position: or in the doberman pooping position as the height/weight gets harder.

I would recommend a weight vest and/or increasing box height.

swinging the weights in your hands could potentially make it easier. the ancient greeks used hand weights to increase the distance they could long jump.

they also apparently had tiny penises.

Height, but there is no need to go crazy.

If I did box jumps now I'd probably do them 'straight legged' and focus on pure vertical height as opposed to hip mobility!

Wayne,

You could start with a match box and work upto a tile.

The sky's the limit.

That box had a very petite surface area on which to land.

Having said that, if anyone can hold two pints - without spilling them - whilst jumping atop a bar stool: it's you.

I would do some equipped box jumps

Springs on shoes - same as double ply
Pogo stick - same as single ply
Nike air max - same as raw with wraps

Iain, I'm not sure how you managed to keep your arms down by your sides while jumping.
