My hours are roughly 6.45 till 2-2.30 ish. That's enough Mr. Worksalot. Walking 14 miles a day takes its toll.

Well I see many youngsters who weight 160 pounds probably could not deadlift 405 to 420x this is my powerlifting comp buddy who I go to meets with at 80. I witnessed 410 at 83 years old?

Pretty much sums it up for me. I'm about 48 and the older I get the less I worry about and the more I laugh at. Started lifting at 10 and did everything that I wanted to some time back weights wise. Still have a blast on the iron every now and then and despite struggling with strength levels that I pissed on as a 16YO I'm still Lemon Fresh and when I lift stuff it looks good. Feels like s**t though. I have no problem accepting this so am loving getting older. Embrace it Pete. It's as ace as you make it. Smiley face whilst you tactically retreat if you will.

Matt - agree with you. Unless you are on a rugby pitch a 'scrum' should be renamed 'mutual masturbation session' as you have to be a wa**er to enjoy those things.Angry

I'm 40 in a few months, have a family/full time job and am stronger now than I've ever been.

Sure, I'm more tired than I was 10 years ago and aches and pains might actually ache a bit more, but we plough onwards regardless.

In short, stuck it up Mr Pete!

problem also is asd i work away when i'm at home every other weekend mrs n kids etc want to do things like eating out etc which usually involves drinking in some way haha or like last weekend it was my cousins birthday and ended up on a 3 day bender

I am 49 years old.

I am as strong as I was when younger but maybe not so quick and dynamic.
I also need more time to recover.

Personally I think if you keep a close eye on the nutrition, the sleep and the fitness conditioning, then strength can be the same and you can still improve, but patience is the key with age. Also forget your ego as you age. Become wise.

So people say once you pass 55 it is just maintenance, which might be true. I will keep in shape and keep lifting even if it is maintenance in a few more years but there will be improvements here and there regardless.Happy

How you getting stronger Mr. Macca? You still weighing in the 80's? Your beard must add a few kgs! You still compete?

I might weigh 80kg holding a 100 or so helium balloons!

Strength wise, I lost a few years to knee issues and now being able to train without pain holding me back is allowing for GAINZ!

It's tougher to find motivation though, getting out under the bar at 22:00 on a Friday evening is a Bugger (I still do it, but I'll whinge about it royally!)

I'm 42.

Healing ability is noticeably impeded. I have a minor injury in my left arm that just will not heal.

Also, bit random, but I get dizzy much easier now.

Sleep is tough when you have arthritis. Banging your head one too many times in sports as a lad, Can you still lift as much as you lifted when you were young? Have the Zercher weight lessened, if so could you train hard and still lift the same amount as when you were young?
