The fix is to setup/unrack the bar like there is 350kg loaded on it regardless of the fact it might only actually be 100kg.

I chatted to Dave C about it and we concluded that it would be based on respect for the bar. Thank you for an excellent and timely reminder. It's good to have confirmation. Fat Pete is on the case.

Day off today as I have to have the car serviced. You now book them like dental appointments, they service and wash the car and you get to mooch around drinking coffee and looking at vehicles you can't nor want to afford for a hour and a half or so, then pay a monstrous bill and leave.

Quite quiet tonight, a couple of the weightlifters are lifting at the weekend, Sod's law means that one is lifting on the Saturday and the other on the Sunday, so there is a chance I may go and see the Sunday one, not a hundred percent sure yet but I would like to go. It's over in that there Yorkshire, junction 32 of the M62 if memory serves. We'll see.

Left home shortly before twelve with the intention of going to the usual pub for dinner and then to Castleford to watch Mac lift, the timings were close but I was assuming that "rising bar" would as always delay things so I should get there early.

I took the scenic route as usual to the pub which invloves a small portion of M60 and there the signs warned M62 - closed - J22 to J24. Oh dear I thought, the road to Castleford lise along the M62, J18 to J32. Oh dear indeed.

The pub was offering home made Steak and kidney puddings and no finer thing has passed these lips in a long, long while. I left at one and the traffic report said that although the motorway was now open, it wasn't fully open and a few million cars were taking their time getting through. I do love Mack, but not that much, mission aborted and head for home.

This proved to be rather more complicated than usual, I saw signs of road closures and diversions and remembered that I had previously seen signs about some marathon / iron man type thing that the council use to infuriate motorists was going on. So as I neared the spot I saw a diversion sign and followed it.

That was a mistake.

Bolton council do the iron man type thing and Wigan council then decide to really piss people off by closing a few more roads for re-marking purposes on the same day. As an extra treat they don't put out diversion signs, only "road closed" ones. In an especially nice touch, they place these signs so close to the work that you can see that the road is closed before you see the now utterly pointless sign telling you that it is.

I have never knowingly been to Hart Common before today, but I have now been twice in an hour. Anywoo, home now and the kettle works so all's well that ends well.

Bolton ironman is every July, so that seems surprising.

Doesn't it just. I will bow to superior knowledge, it must of been for a different reason then. The fact remains - it was closed, and I will now admit that I do not know why

The old tricep pushdown is long gone, this is a different one altogether, these were done very strictly with the cable directly in front of my face for them all. When done this way 75 is enough, I doubt if I could have managed any more

My knees were not at their most cheerful this evening, they were fine during the actual lifts but between sets they seemed rather sad. Still 20 kilos up on last time, I won't complain at that. Hopefully things should be a bit better next time. Pencil in 210.

Crept it all up a little again but dropped the pulldowns on a whim, mainly because my hands were getting sore. Tesco on the way home and back here early doors tomorrow to assist in the delivery of some jerk blocks. Is that life on the edge or what ?

Last week when I had the car serviced I had some time to kill so I mooched around the showroom and chatted to one of the salesman, something he hinted at started a chain of thought and so I went onto the Mini website to check, it would appear that they no longer make a Mini One Diesel which is precisely the car I have. If you want a diesel you have to go up to the Cooper, if you want a "One" it has to be petrol. I really can't see me shelling out the extra for a Cooper, so a petrol engine will power the next Fatpetemobile. It was a decision that I was wrestling with, diesels are superior in every way for my money but they currently are getting a lot of bad press, it would now appear that it is no longer a decision I have to make. I have driven Diesel for most if not all of this century. I will be very sorry to have to change back.

The delivery of the jerk blocks has made me realize that my hands do not supinate as much as they should. I can only get them to about thirty degrees from level. This made it almost impossible to carry said blocks in a relatively normal manner, so I opted for a relatively abnormal one and managed. The weightlifters did not seem at all concerned by their normal carrying position. However, we had a breakfast afterwards and that was dispatched with alacrity so I remain unbothered by this discovery.

I assume "level" would be thumbs-up and fully supinated would be a curl grip on a straight bar?

Your assumption is correct. I consider that level
