I'm 43!
Seem to feel tired more lately and not got as much urgency to train. Walk a lot as a postman and don't have much get up and go once I've finished work. Every time I get a decent bit of training in and get up to respectable numbers (for me) something sets me back and my strength plummets after a week or so of poor or no training.
Maybe trying to stay lean doesn't help? Or is it just one of those things that happens at this age after training for 27 years?
I still see veterans posting silly numbers in their logs though. :-(

Do you train naturally?

I’ve certainly felt age a lot more the past 18 months. Life seems to get in the way more definitely. I’m not surprised you’re tired as your job will involve a lot of walking and lugging.

Similar age mate. I can't train quite as often as I used to, I can still train as hard just need slightly more recovery time, and still managing to pb here and there. Age is a thing that plays on my mind slightly regarding training, and I will be well pissed off when I eventually have to face the fact I won't be improving any more. Still enjoying it a lot at the moment though.

I'm 43, and some days I feel ninety. Much better for shifting a bit of lard, though.

I’ll be 43 in January. I’ve found I’ve got to plan my training far better than 10-years ago. It’s not programmed but I’ll only lift heavy (1-2rm) maybe one every 10-12 weeks and recovering from injuries takes forever.

we had our 3rd child when i was 43 !! shes a belter.

The only alternative it being dead, so getting older is glorious !

I have a bad knee from a poorly executed powerclean at OSG - probably 10 years later i cant kneel down on it , lucky I will NEVER TAKE THE KNEE.

apart from that i am fairly fit , cover about 200km on my bike and attempt 2 kettlebell sessions a week, I am now 12 stone , but better that than still be using any special supplements and coasting to a very early grave, but looking good doing it no doubt !

phew ! thats almost a rant.

long post saturday.

I'll be having my third child aged 43 and it does make me think about becoming old. I'll be 61 by the time they are 18. The only think for it is to stay as fit and healthy as I can so I can give the young un the run around for as long as possible and show them who's the boss!!

Fair play to you guys. Having a baby when I was 33 was tough enough!

Had our second child 6 weeks and I’m 50 in Feb! Keeps me young though! Life keeps me out of gym more than age per se - too busy! I make sure and stretch a lot now after training to prevent injury. I had been getting a lot of pulls/ tears but nothing since I started the stretching - about 2 years.

I’m 60, always been 100% clean.
Been training for many years and still hitting PB’s.
That said, ibrupofen usage has increased exponentially.

45, no kids, divorced and taking time out of full-time IT consulting/contracting. I’m of course lifting in the gpc/bpu... but the progress I’m seeing now is due to effectively being able to train as a full time athlete - eat when I want, nap when tired mid-afternoon, get up when I’m actually rested not because I have to be in a stupid f**king ‘stand-up’ at 9am (anyone who does ‘scrum’ will know what these pointless meetings are)

You're all a bunch of bas***ds then!
Ok. Maybe I've just had a lull.
Back to it!
