I read a while back that Denis Villeneuve was going to do it. Sicario and Arrival are two of my favourite films in recent years.

I liked, but did not love, BR2049. Though that's much the way I feel about the original, tbh.

I'll definitely give it a go.
I liked the 1st one but loved the soundtrack to it.

Headphones, dark room, large scotch. Perfect

It is to me, and may be to you also.
There's a mini series with James McAvoy as Leto II which is worth a look too if you haven't already. I'm a bit of a Duney TBH, and hopeful that one of these things will be good enough that they carry on past God Emperor and into Heretics. That's where the religion, sex and drugs really kick off IMO. Orgasmic amplification sounds a hoot.
I think that the effects are available now to make Franks vision happen.

What you think of Herbert Jr's Dune books? Thought the prequels were enjoyable, but preludes not great. Him doing the final book wasn't to hot either. I shan't be reading it again and I read the Dune series from prequels onwards every couple of years

My guess is Black Panther is overrated. At least a couple of my friends have suggested such.

BR2049 I think is now one of my favourite films

They are no friends to you if they would tell you such lies.

Other than the blatant and unnecessary attempts to shoehorn in pro-blacks propaganda its a very good movie.

Pretty much the same if I'm honest, and I'm remembering them (it's been a while). The preludes seemed a bit dull with the odd lightbulb moment, but I think they played heavily on my emotional attachments to great characters set up in the original trilogy. The prequels were all out taking advantage of the fact that writers can get away with a lot more nowadays that would have been offensive in Franks time. The relationship between Erasmus and Serena Butler was evil and in parts leading up to the Butlarian Jihad were very near to the knuckle. I thought the lead up with the titans and cymeks was good background too.
God knows how I remember this stuff after reading it once, but need my phone to tell me what I'm doing on any particular date Unhappy

😂 good summation of the preludes. Some good moments and ideas but overall a bit bland

Intrigued by the just-announced Amazon TV adaptation of Consider Phlebas.

Ditto. I love the Culture novels but I am not sure how well an adaption of Consider Phlebas would work.

So just seen it, and this is exactly what I found, good film, but I'd say slightly racist even.
