So the smart meter men arrived nine-ish and the first thing they do is check for a mobile phone signal, the best they could find was 30 percent which is simply not good enough. It would seem that I cannot have smart meters.

They did find however that my electricity meter backboard is rotten, so they have called someone else out to do that. Timeframe is sometime before eight pm which seems excessive but at least it could be done today.

So I may end up missing training or I may not and Tesco's may be at an unusual hour or maybe even tomorrow. It all seems rather a rum way to do things

Well the f**kers never turned up, I waited until gone six and then rang to check, they assured me that it would not be today, so I missed training (which may actually be no bad thing for my general recovery) and I went to Tesco's later than usual.

"Will you be in tomorrow" ? they asked me
"Aside from nine till ten, I should be" I replied
"Then we'll come tomorrow after ten and before eight" they told me
"Definitely" ? I asked
"Ah no" came the reply "Probably, something urgent may come up"
"Why do you send emergency teams to non-emergencies" I asked "Surely a dedicated non-emergency team would be far less likely to be re-assigned and therefore far more likely to turn up" I suggested
"That's an hell of an idea" I was told
And that as they say was that

Until tomorrow then

There was a knock on my door at 5 20 ish this evening, and there stood a man with a torch and electricity board apparel, he entered and shone his torch on the offending piece of equipment.

"Ah yes" said he "That needs doing"

He now has to confirm that the original pair of workers who said it need doing were indeed correct and it does need doing. (It appears that this guy works for the electricity board while the other two were contractors employed by others who, it would seem, are not always to be believed)

He will report it, I will then get a letter with a scheduled appointment time, which can be changed if need be, and then it gets done.

What a performance.

It has taken me longer to type this than the bloke was actually in the house for.

Shoulder still giving problems but not as bad as it once did, physio is on Wednesday so that is a plus. Just me, Glynn and Turner on the powerlifting front, although Mac and Caitlin rolled in for the weightlifters a bit later. Late to the pub for steak and onions and mash, then away just as Man City came on the radio, two nil as we speak and the second half is just about to commence

The knees are smiling and all these were pretty damned good. I will discuss ramping up the volume with Mr.C on Wednesday, it may be a shade early yet, but I do feel that a bit more would be a good thing (still only once per week of course)

Deadlift, sleeves and boots still on

I have noticed of late that I have been a shade slow off the floor and then I accelerate once past the knees, with this in mind tonight I stand on a board, just over an inch thick but by the lord Harry it doesn't half make a difference
70 x 3
70 x 3
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
160 x 3
180 x 3
There was huffin' and puffin' aplenty tonight, it is right hard to get into the start position but it got easier as I went along. Not sure how to work these in just yet, every other week, every week for a while, every week for a while and then just on the lighter weeks? the beard will be stroked and the matter considered.

I left the gym at around 6:30 which meant that the rather splendid radio 4 programme "The museum of Curiosity" was just starting, hosting by QI inventor John Lloyd it is an unusual and not unfunny programme where three guests are invited to submit exhibits to the museum.

One of tonight's guest was the very lovely Rowan Pelling, a journalist who came to fame when she edited "The erotic review" to which I was a more than occasional reader. Not the greatest of beauties, she has the look I very much like, of a woman who knows what goes where between the sheets, and I would be exceptionally delighted in the very unlikely event of finding out if I am right or not.

She told a story of when she had attended an orgy in the south of England in order to do a write up for her magazine. She ended a rather humorous piece with some advice, that it was considered very impolite to leave an orgy without having fondled the hostess.

Now that is what I call advice. Gentle reader I shall take it to my grave. And should I ever attend an orgy I will not leave with the hostess un-fondled. It is the least I could do, and I always do the least I could do. Thank you for your attention.

I did reduce it, down to almost zero. The days of me routinely betting on all TV races on a Saturday are over. It has been remarkably easy. Some weeks I think about it and then ignore it and some weeks I never think about it.

I will still bet but in much less volume. And what will I bet on ? I really don't know, but sooner or later something will turn up, but it will be the one bet and then back to nothing again. It probably won't become a regular thing ever again.

It wasn't replaced with anything other than an extra couple of hours in bed of a Saturday morning, where I used to be up and about buying a racing Post and poring over it for a hour or so, I now remain in the land of nod for a while longer

Looseleaf, butterhead, crisphead and romaine are the four main types of lettuce.

That, I did not know

It might have been more productive had you pored over the Post, and simply drunk your tea rather than wasting it.

Good point well made. I had my doubts when I typed it but was unsure, I meant to check but never did. Not sure why. Never let me get away with stuff like this, I should be carpeted for each and every one.

It has a park. It has no run. Thank you for thinking I could do all that in just the one hour

I do not intend to emulate the methods of those who corrected you in your youth, though! I only mentioned it because I know you like this sort of thing Happy.

By the way, I think it unlikely that I will see you this week, I seem to have a hagfish in residence judging by the outputs of my respiratory system.
