Rick said:Actually Arrival was the year before, wasn't it. Not sure I have an outstanding SF film from last year unless you count Logan. I liked BR and Ghost In The Shell a good deal, but for me they're not as strong.

Mehhee didht think much of Ghost in the Shell. Thought BR was truly amazing and can certainly be compared to the 1st. Loved Logan too. Easily the best xmen based film.. Unless you count Deadpool as such.

Shocked by the lack of suburban commando on anyone’s list

I'd take the original tbh although it's tougher going

Yes, you definitely have to be in the right mood for that kind of film. A little tired or tipsy, no distractions

I could watch that, just to listen to Alicia Vijkander's voice. However, the film premise is really convincing to me and I didn't see the final twist(s).

I found Gravity pretty entertaining and intense. I did however, watch it whilst high and in 3-d.

I also recently watched an enjoyable alien movie, named "life". Part terror, part sci-fi, part silly but moderately original.

Can't believe I forgot that one I really enjoyed that.

Always loved Predator.
It has an alien in it so for me counts as Sci-Fi.

The South African accents alone make it an unusual film!! I really enjoyed it.

The Uranus Experiment. Would have been criminal not to use that pun in the title, tbh.

I like it...but i like more pure sci-fi. Most people want guns and explosions...i happily watch the 'boring' episodes of star trek and Stargate.

In contrast to you Licis post...This we both agree on Happy

Also, how about a nice 2 hours spent watching Barbarella or Zardoz or Erasurehead?
