I've recently started adding hack squats, leg presses and belt squats into my mix of exercises and am finding them to be quite nice additions to purely squat and deadlift variations. Also some kind of machine fly which seems to be rather pleasant.

What non barbell assistance work (if any) do people here like?

Besides all the strongman implements, in my current programme I have; bodyweight stuff so dips/ pull ups/ dragon flags/ hanging leg raises/ aleknas. Dumbbell work with seated pressing and some shoulder health stuff. Machine stuff with cable rows, face pulls, leg press and leg curls. Then jumps and plyos oh and grip work with a variety of stuff

I train at home, so have limited access to non barbell kit.

Accessory work is mostly pull ups and grip stuff, though ive also recently started doing exercises like leg curls with resistance bands

Machine belts squats have been done regularly this year. Mainly due to back/hip injuries.

I mainly train at home in a rack with a bench these days.

Non Assistance :-
Pull Ups, Dips.Fat bar work.

I would like to invest in a glute ham developer otherwise a roman chair or hyper extension, but because when I do it is commercial British made kit, it is an expensive investment.

My other assistance work apart from the main barbell lifts are dumbbell work but mainly heavy dumbbell rows and some heavy overhead work with a fat bar.

Good question and interesting to here what others do for assistance.

Belt squats have been talked about a lot recently. What's the sugden school of thought regarding them?

There good to work round back injuries or a lower stress, more quad dominant, movement. I kept a load of strength at the start of last year from doing them when I couldn't Squat.
