Actually I don't usually lift my head when benching. Dunno why I did it. Maybe I was bored cos I seemed to be paused on my chest for an eternity. Lol
I didn't actually know it's not allowed either. Now I do. Thanks :-)

You are welcome. One of the best things about reffing at regional level is the fact that you get to interact with the lifters.

You actually lifted it on the way down, many people do it in training without realizing and have to make an effort to not do it, once they get used to doing this they do it without thinking.

Long pauses is a common complaint but the "press" command comes when the bar is still, so it is largely down to the lifter how long a pause he gets. As I get to watch all the lifts at close quarters you would be surprised just what a difference in pauses there is. A still bar is all that is needed, but that sometimes takes longer than the lifter imagines.
