But just out of curiosity... wouldnt someone have to beat the current champ to be seen as the best ever? And before anyone says it again. Yes i know he has no legs and Yes i know hes lifting tested. But surely the point still stands. He still hasnt broken the all time record? (Yet) Exactly. This dude is amazing but Sarychev is the best until he is beaten. This dude isn't even the best drug tested bencher either ever as Henderson did more. It's like years ago people used to say KK was a better deadlifter than Bolton because he didn't use a belt. He was incredibly impressive, but Bolton was king.

What's 'the best' lift for someone is always going to be subjective.

Whilst I do see your point that 401 is better than 400, I have to say that being allowed to take whatever gear you want year round, and the ability to use leg drive, will both help bench. Look at all able bodied big benchers. Gene Rychlak could squat 1,000lbs to depth. Sarychev can squat big. Fat Sam can squat double bodyweight.

I suppose my problem is that i enjoy strength sport as its (supposedly) very black or white. You either lifted it or you didnt. 401 is heavier and there for better... that said im fully aware that watching tom martin pull 420 is infininately more amazing then watching shaw/thor/hollands/etc etc pull the same weight. As i got deeper in to powerlifting i soon realised its far from black and white and comes with many many variables.
