I'm beginning to think this is investigative journalism in the 21 century. The leak/hack purports to prove he is using tax evasion. Macron denied hiding money in Bermuda after the release, but the documents released say the money is in Caymen islands. No mainstream paper has asked him to clarify, even after he himself said some of the information is true! It's been out for anyone to download and fact check for 48 hours. Telegraph has a piece that doesn't mention the contents of the leak at all. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/05/macron-campaign-bla... It really makes me doubt the papers content to read that article. Tin foil hat allegations the Russians did it without an iota of proof. Total acceptance of the Macron narrative as a victim. Anyway I've read a newspaper or 2 everyday since my teens. I'm thinking of giving up and going online only. Anyone else loosing faith in the press? | ||

Member 4923, 1795 posts | Macron hasnt clarified because he's legally forbidden to comment due to the media blackout in France. I'm sure he will say something when the blackout is lifted. I think the media is a very important institution and love keeping up to date with current affairs from different sources. Yes there are good media outlets as well as bad ones, its up to the consumer to assess all the information and make up their own mind what to believe. | ||

He did commitment on the allegations​ of tax avoidance. Le Pen asked him about it during Wednesday debate. He denied laundering money in Bermuda. By yesterday he was admitting part of the leak was true. Just not what part. There was 48hrs between the leak and the embargo on media today. | ||

Interesting Member 6186, 245 posts | I dislike politicians, I have no time for the media. I cannot bring myself to vote next month. In my opinion politicians are all the same and it is an illusion of choice. Fact :- The establishment and government ministers strike deals with media moguls and corporate giants. There is one rule for the rich and powerful and another for everyone else. Nothing changes. I cannot vote next month because I have no faith in none of them. | ||
