Seen it and thought it was fake ( still think that ).
Kirill Sarychev benches 200 x 18 with the exact same control and technique.
Can't believe that a bodybuilder comes anywhere near that.

I don't see why this matters?
Benching thumbless is a great way to avoid tendonitis in the elbow area.

I agree, but it is banned in some Feds which I assume it what Pete was referring to.

It could be real, though I still think it's doubtful. Though just for argument sake;

Bodybuilders are good at repping. I've seen some guys rep the s**t out of 140, yet barley push 160-170.

This guy could have a max of 280-290 (still massive weight), yet rep similar to the 335 Krilli.

Obviously if the weights go up, mr Bodybuilder would then struggle.

It's banned in my fed, too.

Still not harm in training like that.

In terms of 'feeling a muscle work' I feel as though I can isolate better using a thumbless grip too. That is, choose whether to fire predominantly my chest or my tris. This is somewhat useful for muscle building and assistance work.

Very true, I would even suggest that perhaps is max is even lower, 260 range perhaps. Derek Kendall is a good example of this, 275 in a meet yet has done 220x18 and 180x30 in the gym. And no surprise, he is a former bodybuilder.

I don't think it's fake at all. The bloke is a huge, 165kg of muscle. 200kg is f**k all for him. You don't get 165kg of muscle repping 120kg.

He did strongman for fun for a couple of years, nice guy, very very strong. He's switched back permanently to just plain being massive because money.

PS: I'm going to go with "real", because otherwise they're using fake Pallini plates which seems unlikely.

Saw this a few days ago to and had to question it but the guy is huge so id put money on real, there are exceptions I realise but the feeling is bodybuiders are not that strong but my question is wouldn't they have massive potential to be strong,on the princable more muscle more strenght potential? Or are they traing different fibers? To me the look vs function gap is huge but never really know why.

I reckon it's real as well. You can see the bar flex slightly as he touches his chest. Also, whilst he might be able to rep this for a shed load of reps it doesn't necessarily mean his 1RM is that much higher. When I was BBing I could squat 200x12 but the one time I went for a 1RM I managed 220kg, and it was a definite limit lift! lol. I'm sure he'd not be quite that bad but he might "only" be getting to 270/280, which is still a long way off Sarychev and Spoto.

Does it for 16 reps here....But suspiciously with those Pallini plates in a different gym.
