Big Z has posted that he is out of the Arnold's!
Does this make shaw a dead set favourite or will Thor have a good shot?
Or will there be an outsider?
Personally I think Thor.
Maybe that's just coz I like him and think he deserves a big win!

As per his FB page:

"With sadness I must announce that practicing superyoke got injury and not able to participate in the Arnold Strongman Classic 2017. Superyoke weighing 710kg squeezed my nerves and disconnect my deltoid muscle. Rehabilitation may take about 2 moths. I hope asap to return to competitions. Thank you to all my fans and I`am sorry that this Arnold appear. I wish for all the athletes good performance and prevent injuries. here my last training, warm up with 500kg superyoke"

I don't think Shaw is guaranteed the win but I think he has to be the favorite at this point. Thor was 6th on log, 4th on deadlift, 4th on yoke and 3rd on frame last year. Shaw has been not the best with the frame. He did win it one year but lately it has cost him. He was 5th last year. Lalas, Thor, Kielszkowski and Pritchett all could beat Shaw on the frame. Pritchett could push Shaw on deadlift and it isn't like everyone else are slouches as everyone baring Kielszkowski and Hadge are +400kgs pullers on standard bar. I'm not really seeing anyone who will push Shaw on the yoke though but Pritchett and Lalas have put up some monstrous training lifts. Also can't count out Kielszkowski on this either. Lalas, Shivlykov, Radzikowski and Kieliszkowski could out rep Shaw with the weight as it is on log. Thor, Lalas, Kielsiszkowski and Radzikowski could do some damage on the sandbag throw too.

Gutted he's out! Was looking forward to seeing what kind of shape he's in ahead of WSM later in the year.

I think this is probably it now for him. He's clearly getting hampered with more injuries now which must be down to his age and many years of competition. He's only human after all.

Time to retire me thinks.

Well if he did a 710kg yoke in training...Rumours of 210kg x4 on log...His squats looked good prior to him gaining lots more mass. If a two month injury is all, I hope to see him back and not retiring.

I hope to see him back too, just going to get tougher at his age to keep coming back after injury. This was his big comeback after virtually a year out. I'm hoping WSM is later in the year so he has time to recover for that at least
