The reason for this thread is simple, I want to start to train at home and more I look into the equipment required, the more I realise there is not much made in the UK for strength products in the middle ground, you go from the extreme of quality to made in china.
Eleiko in Sweden. Ivanko, Texas Power Bar, Werksan Rogue all USA.
Anything middle of the road is made in China.
Most of the Strength Shop gear is made in China.
Plates: Mainly made in China these days unless you go high end.
Bars: Are made in the USA or Sweden for a good quality bar.
Otherwise it is a China bar with a badge on it of the company or brand.
I was even told that a Taiwan power bar is better than a China power bar, come on please.
Is it about looking at the specification and then buying the best that comes out of the Far East. I take it some companies have better quality control and not all kit is complete pants from the Far East, to quote my daughter. Weight is weight fine, but you need a good bar in the hand and some decent kit in your gym.

Just to push or pull a reply from you lot of professional and knowledgeable lifters.
Bison Bar Taiwan made is it any good ?
Strength Bar bas***d China made is it any good ?
Body Power 32mm thick cheap China made but could do the job for now.
For British, Watson which has York Sleeves but very expensive.
Jordan Bars are BSI tested but more for Crossfit and Olympic lifts
Ivanko and Eleiko out of my price range.
Maybe a Bulldog Gear Composite Bar, UK made but looks like a Rogue clone ?
This is UK made and looks good.
Or best to wait and buy a Texas Power Bar USA, just wait a few more months and get buy with a cheap bar and then buy a Texas Power Bar ?
Plates/bumpers do not worry me at all, as weight is weight.
Power Rack I think I will go down the welder/steel fabricator route.
For general items Strength Shop etc, which seem fine.
Thanks for your help and your expertise.

I have an oldish bulldog bar and a seconds ss bas***d bar, and despite the bulldog bar being higher 'spec' it just doesn't feel as nice to lift with - even though it is thicker (28.5mm vs 28mm) and better steel ratings (both tensile psi and max weight suggested), it feels whippier and the knurling, while very grippy, doesn't have that roughness you want for a heavy pull.

So despite them being both "hybrid" bars, the more expensive is the worse in my opinion (although i'd probably prefer it if i did any of the oly lifts or variants)
