well, i managed a paltry 140kg for a 5s hold with the axle at gym and a 'barely held it' with 145kg. (DOHG).
not sure of thickness, but it's a bit thicker than the standard 2" sleeves at end? 60mm?
anyway, i could barely get more than a glorified pinch grip due to my small hand syndrome.

Now this is interesting!!

My deadlift is by no means amazing but I've always been able to DOH my lifts without issue.
Does chalk count because my best was with chalk
I can 220 without if I must and I'm the lower end of the strength spectrum.

I just checked the grip board and there is a video of Thor unable to lift an inch dumbbell...i always thought he had a 'bad' grip for his size.

Think 220+ is good. My vest is like 200.

Best out if the lads I train with is mark hunter think he's done 270. But he has hands like shovels.

as long as you can get your hands right round the bar and thumb over the first two fingers i don't think having a massive hands would be much advantage as the surface area of bar to hand is pretty much maxed out (suppose wider hands may spread load out a bit). it's far more obvious on axles or thick dumbbell handles; a small handed individual like myself is struggling to get much more than a pinch grip on the bar, whereas a large hand can get fingers wrapped around and have far more surface area of bar in contact with hand.

surprised... very surprised. you'd think a 6'10" man with massive mitts and an otherwise world class grip (being 2nd in WSM etc) would at least get it off the floor. the ever lovely minna doesn't look very impressed either Grin

Has he got a world class grip though? Since they've tailored Arnolds for Z with a bad grip, basically ignored grip events from WSM, none of the new guys have got a particularly good grip.

Brian Shaw
Mike Burke
Hollands
Pfister

They would all piss that. Given Thor is taller than all of them and probably has equal sized hands he should be on their level.

Arnolds needs to get rid of straps on frame carry.

I genuinely believe this would look good at WSM as an event...much better than deadlift hold as an event and visually. Probably just do less objects, have farmers in there.

I also think it brings it back to different comparable strength...say for example Eddie Hall crushes Mike Burke in deadlift in the previous event(gym strength)...but then Mike Burke turns the table and beats Eddie at a grip event like this(farmboy strength).
