score = d - m

Anyone have a positive number?

I've not run a mile for quite a while (did a 5k sometime last year, but didn't time it). But I reckon my score could be less than -200 Unhappy

A 300kg puller would need a sub 5 minute mile to get a positive score? Can the best crossfitters do either of these?

Five minute miles among crossfitters are fairly common, I think. Not sure about 300kg deadlifts?

That's why I think a positive number would be pretty special.

Tom Martin would have been capable of giving it a shot in his lighter days, no? 360 dead and sub-six mile?

I've deadlifted 252 and ran an 8:50 mile and a half, which puts me around -110 (roughly). Assuming you don't mind the 11 years (roughly) between the two!

When these types of things come up I generally think of some of the bigger (but not necessarily best) Decathletes as amongst the best candidates to have the "highest scores".

As to whether anyone has done it on the same day my instinct would be to say "yes, most definitely" without being able to give you an actual example. Unhappy

I've trained in the same gym as quite a few athletic type guys over the years and I don't think anyone I know will score positive on that one.

I know a few sub 4 mile guys but none of them can pull close to 240kg.

Also, I don't think many 300kg pullers will be able to run sub 5 min miles.

I reckon the few people who can do this will be in between ie have 4-5 min miles and pull 240-300kg

If we stretch the timeframe up to 15-20 years I might get around 0 Grin

There might be someone out there with that combination, and it may be a crossfitter, but I don't think it's any of the last Games athletes. The ones with anything close to a 300kg pull can't run a 5' mile, as far as I can tell.

Maybe someone in the Alex Viada/CHP crowd (their whole concept is geared towards this kind of thing).

I have an odd desire to find out my total. Does the mile have to be straight after the deadlift?

Done sometime in the same week would be good enough, I'd think.

6 minute mile and I think around 210 deadlift at the time.

I could still run one in around 7 or so minute. Deadlift between 230-240!

Big time in the minus lol

Lifetime I'd be in negative triple figures, but not by much.

Current, closer to quadruple...

If you take your mile time in seconds and then take away your deadlift kilos, we'd all be in the pluses.

Result! Happy

Im inclined to think those all natty nfl guys might have a few candidates who could manage a positive score.

A full mile is pretty long for those guys. And/or they won't be pulling much more than 300.
